Flux for mechanical design

Meet Flux, your team's AI mechanical engineer.

Flux edits the STEP files you already have, designs parts from real hardware, and checks strength, heat, and airflow before you build.

Edit existing designs

Your CAD files. Edited by AI.

Most mechanical work is a change to a part that already exists. Bring a STEP, IGES, or BREP file from SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, Creo, Inventor, Onshape, or Fusion. Ask for the change in plain words. Flux changes the part and saves a new STEP file and editable CAD code.

The request, as typed in Flux

“The holder must cover a much taller power supply. Make the bent side flange 40 mm deeper. Keep the 4.4 mm hole in the flange where it is. Then cut five 5 x 30 mm vertical vent slots in the new part of the flange, 15 mm apart and centered on the flange width.”

Before: the STEP file from Autodesk Inventor. The bent flange is 24.5 mm deep.

After: the flange is 64.5 mm deep, with five 5 × 30 mm vent slots. The 4.4 mm hole did not move. Flux saves a new STEP file and editable CAD code.

Your file stays safe

The original file stays in the project, unchanged. Flux saves each edit as a new file.

Editable CAD code

Each edit is CAD code that your engineers can open and change. When Flux rebuilds a part as code, it checks the code against your file.

Designs new parts around real hardware

Ask for a bracket, mount, or enclosure. Flux builds it around the real 3D models of your boards and parts.

Workflow

From requirement to a part you can build, Flux does the mechanical work.

  1. Start from real parts

One part library for the whole product: 3D models of the electronic parts and other devices in your product, and screws, standoffs, and other mechanical hardware, with stock from McMaster-Carr, MISUMI, and JLCMC.

    734,000+ public parts

Flux Library search results for McMaster-Carr screws and a heat-set insert, with 3D models
  2. Design and edit

Parametric enclosures, brackets, and mounts, or changes to the STEP files you bring in. Your engineers can open the CAD code and change it.

One platform

One AI engineer. Every engineering discipline.

Flux is not a collection of disconnected CAD applications. It is one AI-native engineering platform where every discipline shares the same project, the same data, and the same AI engineer.

  1. Boards, enclosure, and mounts in one model

    Mechanical design

Parametric enclosures, brackets, and mounts, fitted to the real board's mounting holes and connectors. Bring in your own STEP models. One parts library for the whole product: chips and connectors, devices that are not on the board, and mechanical hardware such as screws and standoffs.

  2. USB-C power input schematic in Flux

    Electrical engineering

Requirements, part research, schematic capture, and simulation.

  3. STM32 current-loop firmware that Flux wrote and compiled, in a syntax-highlighted code block

    Firmware

Firmware for the board Flux designed, for example on Arm Cortex-M, RISC-V, AVR, or Pico, then built, analyzed, and unit tested.

  4. Bill of materials with stock and pricing

    Manufacturing

Live sourcing, cost, and manufacturer-ready outputs.

Collaboration

Your team, your partners, and your AI engineers in one live project.

Flux runs in the browser. Everyone opens the same project, sees the same live design, and works on it at the same time. No files to send back and forth.

  • Edit together in real time.

Engineers, reviewers, and AI engineers work in the same project at the same time. You see who is in the project and what they have selected.

  • Every change is saved.

Flux records each change, who made it, and when. Open any earlier version, or restore it as a new project.

  • One shared space for your organization.

Your organization's projects, parts, and design standards live in one place. Give the whole organization view, comment, or edit access.

  • Work with suppliers, clients, and contractors.

Invite anyone to one project by email, with view, comment, or edit access. They get that project, not the rest of your organization.

  • Review where the design is.

Comment in the project and @mention a teammate. The discussion stays with the design.

  • Try ideas without risk.

Fork a project to test an idea. The main design does not change.

Customizable

Learns your team's rules and follows them on every project.

Every team builds hardware its own way. Teach Flux your standards, connect it to your tools, and let it build the small apps each project needs.

Team knowledge

Onboard Flux like a new engineer. Write your design guidelines, preferred parts, and lessons learned once, and every AI engineer in your organization applies them on every project.

Your rules

Define your layout rules and manufacturer capabilities once. Flux checks every design against them, every time.

Your tools, connected

Connect any MCP server, or give Flux a key to any web API. Push firmware to your repository, read crash reports from devices in the field, or use the tools your team built itself.

Keys stay secret

Admins add API keys once for the whole organization. The AI engineer uses them but never sees them. Flux adds each key only to requests sent to the services you allow.

Interactive pages

Ask for a one-off tool, and Flux builds it as a live page in the project: a power budget calculator that updates as parts change, a bring-up checklist that tracks progress, or a test report with charts.

Flux in your AI tools

Use Flux from Cursor or any general AI agent that supports its tools. Your agents can read and edit Flux projects and hand design jobs to the Flux AI engineer.
