Your file stays safe
The original file stays in the project, unchanged. Flux saves each edit as a new file.
Flux for enclosure design
Flux designs the enclosure around the real board, checks every fit and clearance, and prepares the files to print, machine, or mold.
Edit the enclosure you have
Bring the housing from SOLIDWORKS, Fusion, or NX, or a STEP, IGES, or BREP file from any CAD tool. Ask for the change in plain words, for example "make it 8 mm taller and keep the mounting bosses in place". Flux changes the housing and saves a new STEP file and editable CAD code.
The request, as typed in Flux
“The holder must cover a much taller power supply. Make the bent side flange 40 mm deeper. Keep the 4.4 mm hole in the flange where it is. Then cut five 5 x 30 mm vertical vent slots in the new part of the flange, 15 mm apart and centered on the flange width.”
The original file stays in the project, unchanged. Flux saves each edit as a new file.
Flux builds the enclosure as editable CAD code. Change the wall thickness or the mounting-hole spacing and the enclosure follows.
Export the full assembly as STEP and continue the work in the tool your team uses.
Capabilities
Flux reads the board outline, mounting holes, connectors, and part heights. It puts supports on the mounting holes and openings where the connectors are.
Interference, space for each cable, screwdriver access, and worst-case and RSS tolerance stack-ups from the board to the lid.
Boards, battery, display, speaker, and wiring in one assembly. Flux places each part and shapes the enclosure around them.
Name the material of each part, from anodized aluminum and brass to clear acrylic, glass, plywood, and carbon fiber, and see it in 3D.
Move a connector or a mounting hole on the board, and Flux updates the enclosure to match. Change the enclosure, and Flux updates the board outline.
Flux folds a rigid-flex board at each flex joint and checks its fit around the enclosure and battery.
Workflow
Start from the board in your Flux project or an IDF board from your ECAD tool. Add a hand sketch, a photo, or a dimensioned drawing, and Flux matches its shape and dimensions.
Two-part shells with snap fits and a removable lid. Injection-molded housings with draft, ribs, bosses, and a parting line. Sheet-metal covers with a DXF flat pattern. Hinges with a set opening angle. Screws, threaded inserts, standoffs, and fans come from the part library.
Air flow through the vents and fan, heat through the enclosure wall, and stress on the shell, before the first prototype.
Flux checks the part against SLA, SLS/MJF, CNC, sheet metal, laser cutting, and injection molding limits. Export STEP, STL, and 3MF, make dimensioned drawings with GD&T, and get quotes from Craftcloud, JLC and PCBWay 3D printing, Shapeways, OSH Cut, and SendCutSend.
Model-agnostic AI
Flux pairs frontier AI models with a state-of-the-art agent harness built for CAD and EDA. The models bring reasoning. Flux brings the engineering tools, project context, and workflows that turn that reasoning into working hardware.
Adaptive splits every engineering job into tasks and gives each task to the model that does it best for the price. Hard design decisions go to frontier models. Routine work goes to fast, low-cost models. Independent tasks run in parallel, so complete devices come together faster. Your team works with one AI engineer, and Flux handles the delegation behind the scenes.
Work with the frontier models your team already trusts, inside Flux.
Every model gets Flux's specialized engineering tools, project context, and workflows.
When a better model ships, your team gets it without switching engineering platforms.
Avoid depending on any one model provider for your engineering capacity.
Adaptive matches each engineering step to the model that does it best, from deep design decisions to routine checks.
Interoperability
Design the enclosure around the board in the same project
Import the board, its holes, and its part heights
Import housings and assemblies
Edit their STEP files
Set the board outline from a drawing
Print from STL or 3MF
Cut sheet-metal flat patterns from DXF
Write them once, every AI engineer applies them
One platform
Flux is not a collection of disconnected CAD applications. It is one AI-native engineering platform where every discipline shares the same project, the same data, and the same AI engineer.
Parametric enclosures, brackets, and mounts, fitted to the real board's mounting holes and connectors. Bring in your own STEP models. One parts library for the whole product: chips and connectors, devices that are not on the board, and mechanical hardware such as screws and standoffs.
Requirements, part research, schematic capture, and simulation.
Firmware for the board Flux designed, for example on Arm Cortex-M, RISC-V, AVR, or Pico, then built, analyzed, and unit tested.
Live sourcing, cost, quotes for boards, parts, and cables, and manufacturer-ready outputs.
Collaboration
Flux runs in the browser. Everyone opens the same project, sees the same live design, and works on it at the same time. No files to send back and forth.
Engineers, reviewers, and AI engineers work in the same project at the same time. You see who is in the project and what they have selected.
Flux records each change, who made it, and when. Open any earlier version, or restore it as a new project.
Your organization's projects, parts, and design standards live in one place. Give the whole organization view, comment, or edit access.
Invite anyone to one project by email, with view, comment, or edit access. They get that project, not the rest of your organization.
Comment in the project and @mention a teammate. The discussion stays with the design.
Fork a project to test an idea. The main design does not change.
Customizable
Every team builds hardware its own way. Teach Flux your standards, connect it to your tools, and let it build the small apps each project needs.
Onboard Flux like a new engineer. Write your design guidelines, preferred parts, and lessons learned once, and every AI engineer in your organization applies them on every project.
Define your layout rules and manufacturer capabilities once. Flux checks every design against them, every time.
Connect any MCP server, or give Flux a key to any web API. Push firmware to your repository, read crash reports from devices in the field, or use the tools your team built itself.
Admins add API keys once for the whole organization. The AI engineer uses them but never sees them. Flux adds each key only to requests sent to the services you allow.
Ask for a one-off tool, and Flux builds it as a live page in the project: a power budget that recalculates when you change a load, a bring-up checklist that tracks progress, or a 3D assembly you can turn and take apart.
Use Flux from Cursor or any general AI agent that supports its tools. Your agents can read and edit Flux projects and hand design jobs to the Flux AI engineer.
Connects to the services your team already uses.
