Flux Now Checks Your Sheet Metal Parts with OSH Cut

Flux designs complete devices: the board, the firmware, and the mechanical parts that hold them together. Many of those parts are sheet metal: brackets, channels, panels and covers. Now Flux checks each one with OSH Cut, the online laser cutting, bending and finishing shop, while it designs.

How it works

  1. Turn on OSH Cut under AI Integrations in the Flux chat. You do not need an OSH Cut account.
  2. Ask Flux for the part in plain words: size, material, thickness and holes.
  3. Flux models the part and sends it to OSH Cut. OSH Cut sends back the part as it reads it (size, every bend, every hole) and any manufacturing findings.
  4. If OSH Cut flags something, Flux changes the design and checks it again until the part is clear.
  5. Ask for a quote. Flux gets the price for each lead time and a cart link, and you check out on OSH Cut.

Feedback from the shop's real tooling

We asked Flux for a 2 mm aluminum L-bracket and a 1.5 mm steel U-channel. OSH Cut checked both against its press brake tooling and flagged the bend radius. Flux changed the radius to match OSH Cut's tooling, checked again, and both parts came back clear. Flux also designs to the sheet thicknesses that OSH Cut keeps in stock, so the part you design is the part they cut.

From a prompt to a price in minutes

A mounting plate with rounded corners, clearance holes and a center cutout went from one prompt to a checked part and a price for 10 pieces. A bent round-tube handlebar did not need a CAD file at all: Flux described the tube by its straight lengths and bends, and OSH Cut sent back a checked part and a price for 5 in minutes.

Try it

  • "Design a 2 mm 5052 aluminum L-bracket that holds this board on the enclosure wall. Check it with OSH Cut and fix anything it flags."
  • "Design a 1.5 mm steel cover with vent slots for the power board, and get an OSH Cut quote for 50."
  • "Design a bent steel tube frame for this sensor rig, and ask OSH Cut what 5 cost."

Part of a complete device

Flux designs the electronics and the mechanical parts in one project. The board and the sheet metal that holds it come from the same design, and OSH Cut confirms that every part can be made before you order.
