Circle it. Ask Flux. Markup mode is here
Some design questions are easier to point at than to type. Circle a connector. Draw an arrow to a corner of the enclosure. Ask about the area you marked. With Markup mode, the Flux agent sees your marks on the design with your next message.
Show the area you mean
A hardware review crosses disciplines. One question is about a circuit block. The next is about the enclosure around it. Part names help, but sometimes the shortest instruction is a circle and a sentence.
Markup mode puts that instruction in the same conversation as your design work. Draw directly over the current view, then type your question or request. Flux sends the marked view with your message automatically. You do not need to take a screenshot, edit it in another app, and upload it.
How to use Markup mode
- Open your project on a desktop and frame the area you want to discuss.
- Click the Markup stylus button in the chat box.
- Draw on the canvas. Circle an area, draw an arrow, or sketch a shape.
- Type your question or instruction, then send it.
The chat box shows “Draw on the canvas and ask about it” while Markup is on. Your marks appear in purple. The agent receives an image of the view with those marks, together with your message. After you send, the marks clear and you return to the design.
From circuit to enclosure
Use Markup on the Schematic, Layout 2D, or 3D canvas. The same gesture works across electronics and mechanical design: point to the area, then say what you need.
- Schematic: Circle a circuit block and ask, “Explain how this section gets its power.”
- Layout 2D: Draw around a group of components and ask, “What should we check in this area before release?”
- 3D: Circle the enclosure corner and ask, “What is the wall thickness here?”
- 3D: Draw an arrow to a mounting boss and ask, “Make this boss thicker.”
Your words specify the question or change. Your marks supply the visual reference. Keep both in one message so the agent can connect your request to the area on screen.
Keep the review in the project
A separate screenshot starts another handoff: capture, annotate, upload, then explain where it came from. Markup removes those steps. You show Flux the design you are looking at and continue the conversation there. The board and its enclosure stay in one project, from the first question to the next revision.
To start another mark, click Markup again. To leave drawing mode before you send, press Esc or click the Markup button again.
FAQ: Markup mode
Click the Markup stylus button in the chat box while you have the Schematic, Layout 2D, or 3D canvas open on desktop.
The agent receives your message and an image of the current view with your marks drawn on it. Flux includes that image automatically.
Send your message to deliver the marked view and clear the canvas. Press Esc or click Markup again to exit before sending.
