Dev builds radio-telemetry modems. A license renewal did not come through, and a six-month supply gap for the FT232RL now threatens the next build. The USB-to-UART bridge must remain in the modem design.
Dev asks Flux to update the bridge and its support parts:
"Our distributor has no FT232RL (U3) for the next 6 months. Find an in-stock USB-to-UART replacement, swap it in the schematic and on the PCB, update the support parts, and tell me what changed."
A focused substitution
Flux replaced U3 FT232RL with CH340X and updated the support parts in the schematic and PCB. The new bridge stays within the radio modem's existing board context.
CH340X stays in the USB-to-UART role and appears in both design views. The height check refers to U3 under the lid.
Check the enclosure height
The new bridge has about 4.8 mm of reported clearance below the 6 mm lid. The board outline and mounting interface remain the enclosure reference. Dev can review the CH340X replacement and its support parts in both design views, with U3's height called out for the enclosure check. The bridge update keeps the UART link in the modem's design review. Plan your next modem-board update in Flux.
