Using AI to edit Siemens NX Projects

Arjun is an engineer in a detector lab. The NX seat moved to another group, but a cable bracket must change now. The detector gets a thicker cable bundle, and the old bracket has only two narrow slots for it. The bracket must still bolt to the same two points in the detector frame.

What did Arjun ask for?

"We are switching to a thicker cable bundle on this bracket. Keep the two 6.5 mm mounting holes and their 100 mm pitch. Make the bracket 40 mm wide instead of 25 mm. Replace the two slots with two rows of 6 mm wide slots, two slots per row, each with a bushing at its inner end. Add a 90-degree bent tab, 25 mm tall, along one long edge, with two 12 x 4 mm cable-tie slots. Then export a STEP file."

What changed?

Flux made the bracket 40 mm wide and replaced the two slots with four 35 × 6 mm slots, each with a bushing. It added a bent tab with two cable-tie slots along one long edge. The two mounting holes and their 100 mm pitch did not change.

Before: narrow bracket with two slots. After: wider bracket with four slots and a bent cable-tie tab.
Before and after the change, in the same Flux view.

Why does the tab matter?

The four slots carry the thicker bundle past the detector electronics. The tab holds the bundle with cable ties, so the cable does not pull on the connectors of the detector board. Next, Arjun can add the detector board to the same Flux project and check the cable path next to it.

Flux exported the revised bracket as a STEP file for the lab's machine shop. The change took hours, not the weeks it takes to get an NX seat back.

Make the next bracket revision in Flux.
