Part Audit Review

I’m reading the current metadata, terminal definitions, rendered symbol, and PCB land pattern now; next I’ll compare them to the manufacturer package drawing and pin table.

Part Audit Report Scope
Audit of the published MAX17301G+ part metadata, schematic symbol terminals, PCB footprint, and available manufacturer documentation.
Authoritative sources Current part information Key specifications
  • Function: Stand-alone pack-side 1-cell Li-ion/Li-polymer ModelGauge m5 EZ fuel gauge with 2-level protector.
Audit complete. The official Analog Devices datasheet URL was already set, and all 14 lead names/numbers plus the exposed pad match; however, the description incorrectly claims self-discharge detection, terminal descriptions/types are missing, and package metadata is incomplete. The exposed-pad paste pattern also remains unverified because ADI land-pattern drawing 90-0063 was unavailable.
Full findings and specifications: Part Audit Report.

Key specifications
  • Function: Stand-alone pack-side 1-cell Li-ion/Li-polymer ModelGauge m5 EZ fuel gauge with 2-level protector.
  • Authentication: SHA-256 with a 160-bit secret key and unique 64-bit ID.
  • Interface: I2C for MAX17301G+; multifunction pins retain family naming such as SDA/DQ and SCL/OD.
  • Recommended operating VBATT: 2.3 V to 4.9 V.
  • Operating temperature: -40 C to +85 C.
  • Typical supply current: 24 uA active, 18 uA hibernate; lower-current ship/deep-ship modes are available.
  • Measurement: 78.125 uV voltage resolution; current-sense input range +/-51.2 mV and 1.5625 uV resolution.
  • Package: 14-lead TDFN-EP, 3.0 mm x 3.0 mm x 0.75 mm nominal, 0.40 mm pitch, package code T1433+2C.
  • Package exposed pad: 1.70 mm x 2.30 mm nominal package metal; connect EP to CSP for normal operation.

Symbol deficiencies
  • Every terminal has Pin Type = Unspecified.
  • Pin Description is missing for every terminal.
  • Pin Group, Section, orientation metadata, and terminal order are not populated as semantic properties.
  • The symbol geometry and left/right grouping are readable, but the absent electrical types reduce ERC usefulness.
  • Suggested electrical classifications include: TH input; CP/REG power outputs; BATT power input; CSP/EP ground; CSN analog input; SDA/DQ bidirectional open-drain; SCL/OD input; ALRT/PIO open-drain/bidirectional multifunction; PFAIL output; PCKP analog input; DIS/CHG outputs; ZVC input.
Footprint cross-check
Confirmed matches
  • 14 perimeter pads plus one exposed pad.
  • 0.40 mm lead pitch.
  • 3 mm x 3 mm body outline.
  • Pin-1 marker and top-view numbering sequence are consistent: pins 1-7 run up the left side and pins 8-14 run down the right side.
  • Perimeter copper pads are 0.20 mm wide x 0.75 mm long, a plausible land pattern for the 0.20 +/-0.05 mm package leads.
  • Exposed copper pad is 1.80 mm x 2.40 mm, 0.10 mm larger in each axis than the nominal 1.70 mm x 2.30 mm package exposed metal, which is a plausible solder land allowance.
Risks / unverified details
  • The exposed pad currently uses one solid 1.80 mm x 2.40 mm paste aperture. Large exposed pads commonly require a segmented/reduced paste pattern to limit float and voiding. The official 90-0063 land-pattern drawing was unavailable at the tested public URL, so the exact Analog Devices paste recommendation could not be confirmed.
  • The footprint file description says T1433+2C, while the package outline drawing uses T1433-2C; the datasheet states suffix symbols indicate RoHS status and the drawing still applies, so this is not a geometry mismatch.
  • Courtyard is 4.25 mm x 3.60 mm. No mismatch was established, but it was not compared against the unavailable official land-pattern drawing.
Mismatches and priority
  1. High — Incorrect description: MAX17301G+ should not claim internal self-discharge detection; that feature is specified for MAX17300/MAX17310 only.
  2. Medium — Missing terminal descriptions/types: Pin names and numbers are correct, but all 15 terminals lack datasheet-backed descriptions and meaningful electrical types, weakening ERC and reuse quality.
  3. Medium — Missing package property: Add Package or Case Code = 14 TDFN-EP, 3 mm x 3 mm, T1433+2C or the closest canonical package value supported by the property system.
  4. Low/medium — EP paste pattern requires confirmation: The solid paste aperture may differ from the manufacturer-recommended stencil pattern; verify against land-pattern drawing 90-0063 or assembly-house guidance before production.
  5. Informational — Pin-count wording: The device is a 14-lead package with an exposed pad, although the Flux footprint correctly contains 15 electrical/copper pad objects.
Overall assessment
The MPN, manufacturer, official datasheet link, package family, footprint pitch, pad numbering, and complete logical pin-name mapping are correct. The part needs metadata cleanup—especially removal of the unsupported self-discharge claim and addition of pin descriptions/electrical types—before it should be considered a high-quality reusable library part. The footprint appears dimensionally plausible, but the EP stencil pattern remains unverified because the referenced official land-pattern document was not publicly accessible at the tested URL.
