  2. Blank mechanical terminals are not identified. The datasheet explicitly requires blank terminals to be isolated from positive and negative terminals, but the symbol presents all four terminals as unspecified electrical pins.
  3. Pin Type is Unspecified on all pins. Electrical terminals should be intentionally typed, and blank support terminals should be clearly marked as NC/mechanical/isolate where supported.
  4. Pin descriptions are missing. The part should identify one positive terminal, one negative terminal, and two blank mechanical support terminals.

Observed outline/marking:
  • Fab circle radius: 17.5 mm, matching 35 mm nominal can diameter.
  • Silk circle radius: 17.63 mm, slightly outside the nominal body.
  • Plus marker appears near pad 1.
  • Courtyard is octagonal and surrounds the 35 mm can outline.
Footprint items that look consistent
  • Body diameter: 35 mm diameter is represented by the 17.5 mm fab circle.
  • Package type: Through-hole snap-in style is consistent with datasheet/distributor information.
  • One spacing match: Pad 2 to pad 4 vertical spacing is 19.500001 mm, matching datasheet dimension B = 19.5 mm.
  • Polarity marker present: The footprint includes a plus marker near pad 1.
Footprint mismatches / risks
  1. Electrical meaning of pads is not reviewable from the symbol. The footprint suggests pad 1 may be positive due to the nearby plus marker, but the schematic pin 1 has no description or polarity.
  2. Blank pads are ordinary through-hole pads. This is only acceptable if the corresponding schematic pins are clearly NC/mechanical and remain isolated. Current symbol does not make that clear.
  3. Drill size appears tight. Drill = 1.5494 mm versus datasheet terminal thickness t = 1.5 mm ±0.1. At max terminal thickness, 1.6 mm, this hole would be undersized. The datasheet extract did not provide an explicit recommended PCB finished-hole or slot size, so this should be verified before publishing/ordering.
  4. Dimension A = 22.5 mm is not obvious from observed pad centers. Body diameter and B = 19.5 mm are represented, but the mapping of A/B/C to the full 4-pad layout should be checked against the mechanical drawing image.
  5. Terminal shape may need confirmation. Datasheet gives tab thickness t, which can imply flat snap-in terminals; round drilled holes may or may not be sufficient depending on the actual terminal geometry and recommended land pattern.
Component Review Checks
Flux component review checks were queried and no component-review check results were returned at the time of review.
Verdict
The part metadata and datasheet association are now correct, and the body outline of the footprint appears plausible for a 35 mm snap-in ultracapacitor. However, the part should be considered not fully review-clean until the symbol and footprint terminal semantics are fixed/verified.
  1. Update the schematic symbol so pins are explicitly described as:
    • Positive terminal
    • Negative terminal
    • Blank mechanical support terminal — isolate / NC
    • Blank mechanical support terminal — isolate / NC
  2. Confirm the Maxwell mechanical drawing’s pin numbering and ensure footprint pad numbers map correctly to positive, negative, and blank terminals.
  3. Mark blank support terminals as NC/mechanical/isolate in the part data where supported.
  4. Verify or adjust drill/hole/slot geometry for 1.5 mm ±0.1 snap-in terminals; the current 1.5494 mm drill appears marginal.
  5. Re-run/review component checks after symbol terminal descriptions and footprint pad semantics are corrected.
