You’re likely seeing a right‑angle, side‑entry FFC footprint, so the cable exits sideways relative to the camera. If the camera sits straight “in front,” that sideways ejection can make the cable double back and collide.
What to do:
  • Rotate the board‑side connector so its slot faces the board edge toward the camera. This lets the flex go straight out without a sharp fold.
  • Keep your bottom‑contact requirement, but verify the cable’s contact orientation (same‑side vs opposite‑side) so the pinout still matches the Seeed/Arducam mapping for an OV2640 camera module.
  • Place the connector at, or very near, a board edge, and leave clearance behind the latch for the first cable bend per your cable vendor’s bend‑radius guidance.
  • If space is tight, consider a vertical (top‑entry) variant of a 24‑pin 0.5 mm FFC connector so the cable exits up (away from the PCB) instead of sideways.
If you want, I can rotate or reposition J1 in PCB layout, or swap it to a vertical connector to avoid interference.

I can rotate J1 90° clockwise in PCB so the connector slot faces the board edge toward the camera. I have this change ready to apply.
Flux documentation on rotating a footprint in PCB view: "To move a component, left-click on it and drag it to the desired position. For rotating a part, there are two options:
  • Right-click on the part you want to rotate and select "Rotate right" or "Rotate left."
  • To rotate parts quickly, use the open or close square brackets [ ]
