Integrate and net-label all new channels COM/NO/RELx.
Enlarge/arrange the PCB, place/route, then update BOM and run checks.

Expand the existing Plant Care System Reference Design (d3b4 beTG ef00 aSMV) from a 3-relay to a 12-relay ESP32 plant-care controller. The upgrade will add nine additional relay channels with proper drivers, flyback diodes, control signal connections (direct ESP32 GPIOs or an I2C/SPI expander), and updated power regulation on the 5 V buck converter. Further, connectors, net labels, PCB layout and BOM are to be updated, ensuring all design rules (ERC/DRC) pass.

Relay Channel Replication and Driver Setup
1. Replicate the existing relay channel design (K1–K3 with S8050 drivers, base resistors, and flyback diodes D1–D3) to create nine additional channels (K4–K12).
2. For each new channel:
  1. Add a relay (e.g., SRD-05VDC-SL-C) with corresponding driver transistor (e.g., S8050 or similar) and base resistor.
  2. Include a flyback diode on each channel for coil protection.
  3. Duplicate terminal block connectors and update net labels (NO/COM and individual coil nets) accordingly.
**Control Signal Integration **
1. Allocate 12 control signals, either by assigning available ESP32 GPIOs or by integrating an I2C/SPI expander if MCU IO is limited.
2. Connect each control line to the base of the corresponding driver transistor.
Power Supply Evaluation and Update
1. Reassess the 5 V buck converter (LM2596DSADJR4G) output capability for the increased total coil current.
2. Resize the 5 V supply network as needed, by selecting or upgrading inductor, Schottky diode (D4), and FB network, and adding additional bulk capacitance to handle peaks.
Schematic and PCB Design Updates
1. Duplicate connectors, net labels, and terminal connections from the original 3-channel design for channels 4–12.
2. Incorporate new channels into the schematic with correct labeling and control net connections.
3. Update PCB layout to accommodate the larger relay bank, reposition components if necessary, and re-run auto-routing to integrate new nets.
**Design Validation and Documentation **
1. Update the BOM to include the nine additional relays, transistors, resistors, diodes, and any additional power supply supporting components.
2. Run ERC/DRC checks and resolve any errors or warnings.
3. Verify that the design meets current and thermal requirements for all 12 channels.

#Success criteria

All 12 relay channels are present with corresponding drivers, resistors, and flyback diodes, each with correct terminal blocks and net labels.
The control signals are correctly connected either directly to ESP32 GPIOs or through an expander and the 5 V supply is validated/upgraded for the total coil current load.
Updated schematic, layout, and BOM pass ERC/DRC checks and are ready for further production steps.
