Part Audit Review

Review all available part information (MPN, package, pin count, description, properties). If no datasheet URL is already set, search the web for the official datasheet and update the part's Datasheet property with the URL. Then cross-check the schematic symbol, footprint, and pin descriptions against the datasheet. Summarize key specs and flag any mismatches.
I’ll audit the part metadata, locate the official manufacturer documentation if needed, and verify the symbol, footprint, and pin mapping against it. I’ll update only the Datasheet property if it is missing, then report key specs and any discrepancies.

Audited the Flux part project for JST SM05B-SHLS-TF(LF)(SN) against the official JST SHL family datasheet: Official datasheet: https://www.j...
Audit complete. The official JST datasheet URL was already set, so no property update was needed; the MPN, 5-position/1.00 mm pitch identity, seven-pad footprint, and core land geometry are consistent with the datasheet.
Main issues are missing symbol metadata: all pins are Unspecified, pin descriptions/groups/sections are absent, and MP1/MP2 are not clearly distinguished as solder hold-down tabs. Full specs and findings are in Part Audit Report.

Schematic symbol cross-check
Correct
  • The symbol has contacts 1 through 5 and two mounting/solder-tab terminals MP1 and MP2.
  • Contact numbering is unique and complete.
  • The five mating contacts are represented as passive connector pins, which is electrically appropriate in principle.
Mismatches and missing information
  1. All seven Pin Type values are Unspecified. Connector contacts and solder tabs should normally be Passive to improve ERC behavior.
  2. Pin Description is missing for every terminal. Recommended descriptions:
    • Pins 1-5: Mating contact 1 through Mating contact 5
    • MP1/MP2: Solder hold-down tab; no mating signal contact
  3. Pin Group, Section, Pin Orientation, and Terminal Order are unset. The component review check confirms these missing parametric-symbol properties for all seven terminals.
  4. The rendered symbol alternates the numbered contacts between left and right sides and places MP1/MP2 among them. It is electrically usable, but it does not visually communicate a single-row connector or clearly separate mechanical tabs from mating contacts.
  5. MP1 and MP2 are modeled as terminals. This matches the two conductive solder tabs in the footprint, but users may accidentally treat them as signal positions. Clear descriptions and a Mechanical / Shield group are recommended. If the tabs are intended to be left electrically isolated, that intent should be documented.
Footprint cross-check
The available footprint contains seven rectangular top-layer pads:
  • Signal pads 1-5: nominally 0.60 mm x 1.25 mm, at 1.00 mm pitch.
  • Signal pad row center: nominally 2.625 mm from the footprint origin in the side-entry direction.
  • Hold-down pads MP1/MP2: nominally 0.90 mm x 1.70 mm, symmetrically located at approximately +/-3.45 mm.
These values and the symmetric five-contact/two-tab arrangement are consistent with the JST normal-type recommended PCB layout. The five signal pads have the correct 1.00 mm pitch and 0.60 mm land width, and the two larger solder-tab pads are present.
Footprint findings
  • No clear dimensional mismatch was found in pad count, signal pitch, signal-pad width, or hold-down-pad presence.
  • The datasheet marks circuit 1 at one end of the row; the footprint has pad 1 at the corresponding end in its local coordinate order. A visible pin-1 marker in fabrication/silkscreen was not available in the inspected pad-only data, so pin-1 marking could not be confirmed.
  • JST states that its PCB dimensions are reference values and recommends contacting JST for detail; therefore, final production approval should include a visual comparison with the current official drawing and, ideally, the manufacturer CAD data.
  • No package outline, courtyard, solder-mask expansion, paste expansion, or 3D-model alignment was visible in the returned footprint data, so those items were not conclusively verified.
Overall assessment
Electrical identity and core footprint geometry are consistent with the official JST documentation. The main deficiencies are symbol/terminal metadata quality rather than an apparent pad-geometry error.
Severity summary
  • Critical mismatches: None found.
  • Moderate issues: Pin types are unspecified; mounting tabs are insufficiently distinguished from signal contacts.
  • Minor/documentation issues: Missing pin descriptions, groups, sections, orientations, terminal orders, package/case metadata, and unconfirmed pin-1/outline/courtyard/3D details.
  1. Set pins 1-5 and MP1/MP2 to Passive.
  2. Add explicit pin descriptions for all seven terminals.
  3. Group pins 1-5 as Contacts and MP1/MP2 as Mechanical / Shield, with Section equal to Pin Group.
  4. Arrange the symbol as a clear one-row 5-position connector and visually separate the hold-down tabs.
  5. Add or confirm package/case metadata, connector pitch, position count, row count, right-angle orientation, current rating, voltage rating, and operating temperature properties.
  6. Confirm pin-1 marking, body outline, courtyard, mask/paste rules, and 3D alignment in a full footprint/3D review before publishing for production use.

5-Position Right-Angle Surface-Mount Wire-to-Board Header – Single-row shrouded PCB header designed for consumer electronics, IoT devices, industrial controls, automotive modules, portable equipment, and embedded systems requiring compact wire-to-board connections. The JST SM05B-SHLS-TF is part of the SHL Series, featuring 5 positions on a 1.00 mm pitch with a right-angle surface-mount (SMT) configuration for high-density PCB layouts. It incorporates phosphor bronze contacts with tin plating, a 4-wall shrouded housing, and solder retention tabs to improve mechanical strength during reflow soldering. Rated for 1 A and 50 V, it uses a UL94 V-0 polyamide (PA) housing and supports push-pull mating with compatible SHL series cable connectors. Designed for −25°C to +85°C operation, it is ideal for compact embedded and portable electronic applications.
