MiCS-5914 Part Review

I’ll review the part metadata, find and set the official datasheet if needed, then compare the symbol/footprint/pin details against the datasheet and report any mismatches.
I found the official SGX Sensortech datasheet and confirmed the current library part has no symbol pins and no datasheet set. I’m updating the datasheet link now, then I’ll finish the cross-check report.

Date: 2026-07-14 Reviewed available part information for the current published part project: MPN, manufacturer/package metadata, description...
Completed the MICS-5914 review and set the official SGX Sensortech datasheet URL in the project properties. I created the detailed review in Part Review - MICS-5914.
Open items:
  • The description incorrectly mentions CO detection; MiCS-5914 is primarily an NH3/ammonia sensor.
  • Terminals are A–J including I, but the datasheet uses A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K.
  • Pin descriptions/types are missing for C=Rh1, D=Rs1, F=Rh2, G=Rs2.
Suggested next steps:
  1. Fix terminal labels and pin descriptions.
  2. Correct the part description.
  3. Verify footprint orientation against the datasheet bottom-view pin diagram.

Part Review - MICS-5914
Date: 2026-07-14
Scope
Reviewed available part information for the current published part project: MPN, manufacturer/package metadata, description, properties, symbol terminals, footprint, pad mapping, and datasheet consistency.
Datasheet
  • Official source found: SGX Sensortech / Amphenol SGX Sensortech MiCS-5914 datasheet, 1108 rev 4.
  • Datasheet URL set in the current project properties: https://www.sgxsensortech.com/content/uploads/2014/07/1108_Datasheet-MiCS-5914.pdf
  • Note: the Flux library search index still reported the published component as has_datasheet: false immediately after the update, so the indexed library result may lag the project property state.

I9No datasheet pad IMismatch: should likely be J
J10J exists, K also expectedMismatch: terminal K missing; J likely shifted
Primary symbol issue: the terminal set should be A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, with no I. The current symbol uses I and omits K.
All terminals currently have Pin Type: Unspecified; the important functional pins C/D/F/G should be described, and non-assigned pads should be explicitly marked as NC/reserved/mechanical according to the project library convention.
Footprint / Package Check
Observed footprint characteristics:
  • Footprint asset: SON_CS-5914_SGX.kicad_mod
  • SMD pads: 10 rectangular pads
  • Imported pad size: 0.5588 x 1.2954 mm
  • Fabrication outline: about 5.0038 x 7.0104 mm
  • Datasheet package size: 5 x 7 x 1.55 mm
Assessment:
  • The body outline matches the datasheet package size closely.
  • The pad count matches the 10 datasheet pads.
  • The imported footprint originally used numeric pads 1-10, while the current Flux pads/terminals are lettered A-J including I. The conversion appears to map numeric pad 1 -> A through numeric pad 10 -> J, which conflicts with the datasheet's skipped-I alphabetic sequence.
  • The datasheet text extraction did not expose a complete recommended land-pattern table, so pad dimensions and positions could not be fully verified against an authoritative numeric footprint drawing. The package outline is plausible, but the terminal naming/mapping must be corrected before relying on the part.
  • The datasheet configuration is shown as a bottom view; footprint orientation should be verified visually against the manufacturer drawing to ensure C/D/F/G are not mirrored or shifted.
Mismatches / Risks
  1. Description mismatch: current text says CO / carbon monoxide detection, but MiCS-5914 is an ammonia / NH3 sensor.
  2. Terminal naming mismatch: current symbol/footprint exposes I; datasheet skips I and uses K as the 10th pad.
  3. Missing pin descriptions: C/D/F/G need Rh1/Rs1/Rh2/Rs2 descriptions; NC/blank pads should be identified.
  4. Pin types are all unspecified; this weakens ERC/part review.
  5. Footprint body is plausible, but exact land-pattern dimensions were not fully verified from the datasheet OCR.
  6. Orientation risk remains because the datasheet pin configuration is a bottom view; physical mapping of C/D/F/G should be checked against the original drawing before publication/use.
  1. Correct the description to identify the part as an ammonia / NH3 MOS gas sensor, not a CO sensor.
  2. Rename/recreate terminals so the final terminal list is A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K.
  3. Assign pin descriptions: C=Rh1, D=Rs1, F=Rh2, G=Rs2.
  4. Mark A/B/E/H/J/K as NC or reserved/mechanical per the chosen Flux convention.
  5. Verify and, if needed, correct footprint pad labels so pad 9 is J and pad 10 is K rather than I/J.
  6. Visually verify top-vs-bottom orientation for C/D/F/G against the datasheet package drawing.
