Symbol and terminal audit
Pins 1–64 have the correct pin numbers and names versus the official pin table. However, all 65 terminal records have Pin Type = Unspecified and lack Pin Description, Pin Group, Section, Pin Orientation, and Terminal Order metadata.
This means the symbol does not encode the preferred organization rules: broad functional groups, Section equal to Pin Group, Power first/Top, Ground last/Bottom, and consistent Left/Right assignment for other groups. The custom SVG symbol also renders labels poorly, with outlined or unreadable glyphs.
Every physical pin 1–64 is missing its datasheet description and electrical type. Important examples include:
  • Pin 14 GNDA: analog ground; should be a supply/ground type
  • Pin 24 VB: battery-line supply input
  • Pin 38 VCC: 3.3/5 V MCU I/O supply
  • Pin 39 VCC5: 5 V supply output
  • Pin 49 RESET: reset output
  • Pins 55–59: SPI SDO, SDI, CLK, PRN, CS with appropriate input/output types
  • Pin 53 NU: not used, but the datasheet explicitly requires connection to ground; this instruction is absent
  • Pin 54 GNDD and pin 52 GNDBST: ground pins, currently unspecified
Exposed-pad mismatch
The project adds terminal 65 / EP, mapped to the central exposed pad. The official pin table ends at pin 64 and does not define the exposed pad as electrical pin 65 or state its net assignment. Do not assume EP connects to GNDA, GNDD, GNDBST, or another net without ST confirmation.

Mismatches and concerns
  1. The central exposed pad is 6 x 6 mm, while the L9396 datasheet specifies Option A, 4.5 x 4.5 mm.
  2. Footprint name QFP50P1200X1200X120-65N implies 65 lands, although the official device is 64 leads plus an exposed pad that is not documented as an electrical pin.
  3. The EP uses one full 6 x 6 mm paste aperture; no reviewed official source supports that geometry.
  4. No segmented paste pattern or thermal-via array is present. ST does not provide a definitive L9396-specific stencil/via pattern in the reviewed documents, so this is a design concern rather than a proven datasheet violation.
  5. Footprint description says TQFP64 rather than the more specific TQFP64EP.
Priority findings
  1. Critical mechanical mismatch: resize/rebuild the exposed-pad land from 6 x 6 mm to the official 4.5 x 4.5 mm geometry, with stencil/via details resolved before fabrication.
  2. Metadata error: correct Part Type from Inductors to an automotive power-management IC classification and add TQFP64EP package metadata.
  3. Pin metadata incomplete: populate descriptions and electrical types for pins 1–64; preserve the official names and numbering.
  4. EP ambiguity: confirm the exposed-pad electrical connection with ST before assigning a net or treating it as pin 65.
  5. Symbol quality: repair the custom symbol rendering and add broad functional grouping metadata.
No audit-only mismatches were corrected during this review.
