Part Datasheet Audit


I’ll audit the part metadata and existing symbol/footprint, locate the official manufacturer datasheet if needed, update the Datasheet property, then document verified specs and any mismatches.
The official E‑Switch drawing and FS5700 series datasheet are verified. I found significant classification/pin-description issues and am now applying the missing datasheet link before finalizing the audit.

Audit of E-Switch FS57003PLT2B2M2QE metadata, schematic terminals/symbol, PCB footprint, and pin descriptions against the official manufacturer-generated part drawing and FS5700 series datasheet.

Audit complete. I added the official E‑Switch FS5700 datasheet URL and created the detailed Part Datasheet Audit.
Key findings: the 3PDT pin grid and numbering are correct, but the footprint uses 1.20 mm drills instead of the specified 1.50 mm, the symbol lacks switch contacts and pin descriptions, and the part is incorrectly indexed as Logic/AND. I filed an internal part-quality report; the footprint drill/pad correction remains necessary before manufacturing.

  • Mismatch: Library indexing classifies this part as Integrated Circuits / Logic / AND, although its project property says electromechanical. It should be classified as a switch / electromechanical component.
  • Mismatch: Description text (4.2.2018 Manufacturer Recommendations ... 38.2mm) is not a useful product description and does not identify the 3PDT ON-ON footswitch function.
  • Incomplete: No explicit package/case property is set. Suggested description: Panel-mount footswitch, M12×0.75 bushing, 9 PCB pins, 3×3 grid.
  • Minor: Designator prefix is S; SW would be more conventional and matches the better existing library entry, but S is electrically harmless.
Schematic symbol and pins
  • Pass: Terminal numbers 1–9 exist and correspond one-to-one with PCB pads 1–9.
  • Mismatch: The symbol contains only nine generic passive terminal objects; it does not show three mechanically linked SPDT contact sets or the ON-ON switching state.

  • Risk: A user cannot infer connectivity from the symbol and may wire the switch incorrectly without consulting the datasheet.
Footprint
  • Pass: Pad centers match the manufacturer grid: three columns at 5.30 mm pitch and three rows at 4.80 mm pitch, with 10.60 mm × 9.60 mm total center span.
  • Pass: Pin numbering/orientation in the KiCad footprint corresponds to the manufacturer recommended PCB-layout view after accounting for KiCad Y-axis direction.
  • Pass: The drawn body outline is 19.6 mm × 17.0 mm, matching the principal body/face dimensions shown.
  • Critical mismatch: Footprint drill diameter is 1.20 mm, while the official recommended PCB layout specifies Ø1.50 mm holes. This can prevent the PCB pins from fitting and must be corrected before manufacturing.
  • Follow-on issue: Current copper pad diameter is 1.80 mm. If the drill is changed to 1.50 mm, the annular ring becomes only 0.15 mm radial; pad diameter should be increased according to the selected PCB fabricator’s minimum annular-ring rule.
  • Incomplete: The courtyard is only a tight body rectangle and does not represent the complete panel-mount/mechanical keepout or actuator envelope. This is acceptable only if enclosure/panel clearance is handled separately.
  1. Change all nine footprint drills from 1.20 mm to 1.50 mm and enlarge pad diameters to satisfy fabrication annular-ring requirements.
  2. Replace/redraw the schematic symbol as three mechanically ganged SPDT contacts, preserving pin numbering.
  3. Add pin descriptions: Throw A / Common / Throw B for groups 1-2-3, 4-5-6, and 7-8-9, including the position closure mapping.
  4. Correct the library category from IC/Logic/AND to electromechanical switch and improve the description.
  5. Add a meaningful package/case description and consider changing the default designator prefix from S to SW.
  6. Treat 500 V RMS as the dielectric-strength limit for this exact MPN pending manufacturer clarification of the conflict with the series datasheet.
