Part Audit Report

Review all available part information (MPN, package, pin count, description, properties). If no datasheet URL is already set, search the web for the official datasheet and update the part's Datasheet property with the URL. Then cross-check the schematic symbol, footprint, and pin descriptions against the datasheet. Summarize key specs and flag any mismatches.
I’ll audit the part metadata and existing symbol/footprint, locate the official Triad Magnetics datasheet if needed, update the Datasheet property, then document specs and any mismatches.

  • MPN: FS12-500-C2 — matches the official manufacturer document.
  • Manufacturer: Triad Magnetics — identifiable from the project description and official document, but the structured Manufacturer Name property is blank.
  • Terminal count: 8 — correct.
  • Datasheet: The previously blank Datasheet URL was updated to the official Triad Magnetics HTTPS PDF.
  • Mounting/package: PCB through-hole, split-bobbin power transformer. The structured Part Type and package/case properties are blank.
  • Current description: N/A / Manufacturer Recommendations / Triad Magnetics — incomplete and not a useful functional description.
Key specifications Datasheet pin mapping
Audit complete. I added the official Triad Magnetics datasheet URL and confirmed the 8-pad through-hole footprint matches the specified spacing, drill size, outline, numbering, and pin-1 marking.
Key issues: manufacturer/type/package metadata and pin descriptions are blank; the description is incomplete; and the symbol lacks winding graphics and phase dots, creating a series/parallel wiring risk. Full findings and specifications are in the Part Audit Report.

Table

PinsFunctionPolarity / phase
1–2Primary winding 1Pin 1 is dotted
3–4Primary winding 2Pin 3 is dotted
5–6Secondary winding 1, 6.3 V / 0.5 APin 5 is dotted
7–8Secondary winding 2, 6.3 V / 0.5 APin 7 is dotted
Primary connections: parallel 115 V uses 1+3 and 2+4; series 230 V uses jumper 2–3 with input across 1–4. Secondary series uses jumper 6–7 with output across 5–8; secondary parallel uses 5+7 and 6+8.
Symbol cross-check
Correct
  • Eight terminals exist and are numbered 1 through 8.
  • All terminals are passive, appropriate for transformer windings.
  • Primary-side pins 1–4 are grouped on one side and secondary-side pins 5–8 on the other.
Mismatches / omissions
  • Pin descriptions are absent for every pin. The symbol does not identify primary winding 1/2, secondary winding 1/2, voltage/current ratings, or dotted ends.
  • Winding graphics and phase dots are absent/not visible. This is electrically risky because series/parallel connections depend on winding phase.
  • The symbol should explicitly show four winding sections: 1–2, 3–4, 5–6, and 7–8, with dots on 1, 3, 5, and 7.
Footprint cross-check
Matches the official board layout
  • Eight plated through-hole pads are present and correctly numbered.
  • Pin spacing is correct, rotated 90° relative to the datasheet drawing:
    • A = 0.250 in = 6.35 mm
    • B = 0.350 in = 8.89 mm
    • C = 1.280 in = 32.512 mm
  • Drill diameter is 1.524 mm = 0.060 in, exactly matching the recommended board hole.
  • Pad 1 is rectangular and has an adjacent pin-1 marker.
  • Fabrication outline is approximately 1.331 × 1.650 in, matching the maximum body width and length.
  • The courtyard extends beyond the maximum body outline.
Notes
  • Pad diameter is 2.286 mm with a 1.524 mm drill, giving a 0.381 mm radial annular ring. The datasheet specifies the hole but not a copper-pad diameter, so this is a footprint design choice rather than a datasheet mismatch.
  • A STEP model is attached; dimensional alignment was not independently metrologized from the rendered model, but the footprint geometry itself matches the official drawing.
  1. Set Manufacturer Name to Triad Magnetics.
  2. Set Part Type to Power Transformer.
  3. Set mount/package metadata to Through Hole / PCB Mount Split Pack.
  4. Replace the description with: 6 VA split-bobbin power transformer; dual 115 V primaries for 115/230 V operation; dual 6.3 V, 0.5 A secondaries; Class 2 PCB through-hole.
  5. Add pin descriptions and winding/phase graphics to the schematic symbol.
Overall conclusion
The footprint is dimensionally consistent with the official manufacturer board layout and pin numbering. The main quality issue is the schematic symbol and metadata: it lacks winding graphics, phase dots, pin descriptions, manufacturer/type/package fields, and a useful description. These omissions can cause incorrect series/parallel wiring even though the footprint itself is correct.
