Part Datasheet Audit Scope
Audit of the A6E-8101-N part metadata, schematic terminals/symbol, PCB footprint, and attached assets against the datasheet already stored in the part's Datasheet URL property.
Stored part information
Attached assets:
  • Symbol: A6E-8101-N A6E-8101-N Symbol.svg
  • Footprint: SW_A6E-8101-N_OMR.kicad_mod
  • 3D model: A6E_8101_N.step
Datasheet identification and key specifications
The stored manufacturer datasheet identifies A6E-8101-N as an A6E-N series, 8-pole, flat-actuator, through-hole slide DIP switch, supplied in tubes of 21.
The datasheet extraction was OCR-based; the dimensions and ratings above were cross-checked against the drawing and model table returned from the stored PDF.
Schematic symbol and terminal audit
Audit complete. The Datasheet URL was already populated, so no update was needed; the 16-pad footprint geometry and pin pairing match the 8-pole switch, but pin types/descriptions and package metadata are incomplete, and the 1.0 mm drill diameter could not be verified.
Full findings and key specifications: Part Datasheet Audit.
Populate the missing description and package metadata, then set all terminal types to Passive with paired pole descriptions.
I’ll add the part description/package metadata, update all 16 terminals to Passive, assign descriptions for the eight paired poles, and verify the result.
Updated the part:
  • Added a datasheet-backed description.
  • Set Package or Case Code to 16-DIP.
  • Set all 16 terminals to Passive.
  • Added paired pole descriptions for contacts 1–16, 2–15, through 8–9.
  • Verified all terminal properties were applied correctly.

Schematic symbol and terminal audit
Correct items
  • Sixteen terminals are present and uniquely numbered 1 through 16.
  • Terminal placement uses one row numbered 1 through 8 and the opposite row numbered 16 through 9, so aligned terminal pairs are 1-16, 2-15, 3-14, 4-13, 5-12, 6-11, 7-10, and 8-9. This is consistent with an 8-pole DIP-switch contact arrangement.
  • The SW designator prefix is appropriate.
Mismatches / quality gaps
  • Every terminal has Pin Type = Unspecified. For a passive mechanical switch, Passive is the more accurate ERC type.
  • No terminal has a Pin Description. Recommended descriptions are Pole 1 contact A, Pole 1 contact B, through Pole 8 contact A/B, with each description explicitly identifying its paired terminal.
  • The symbol renderer did not expose readable internal switch-contact graphics during this audit. The terminal ordering is correct, but the visual depiction of eight independent SPST contacts could not be conclusively verified from the rendered project view.
  • The part description is not explicitly populated. A suitable description would be: 8-position SPST slide DIP switch, flat actuator, through-hole, 25 mA at 24 VDC.
Footprint audit
Correct items
  • The footprint contains 16 pads.
  • Pad centers form two rows on 2.54 mm pitch with 7.62 mm row spacing.
  • The first-to-last pad span is 17.78 mm.
  • The silkscreen/body envelope is approximately 21.93 mm long by 10.41 mm wide, which reasonably encloses the datasheet body dimensions of 21.68 mm by 9.9 mm.
  • ON/OFF markings and a pin-1 marker are present.
  • The attached footprint and 3D-model filenames correspond to the exact MPN.
Mismatches / quality gaps
  • The footprint inspection reports a nominal pad diameter of about 1.508 mm, but did not expose a drill/hole diameter. Therefore the datasheet-required 1.0 +/- 0.05 mm plated hole could not be conclusively verified.
  • No courtyard or explicit body-clearance rule was visible in the inspected layout data.
  • Pin-1 orientation appears marked, but the top-view ON-direction/contact orientation should be manually checked against the physical sample or datasheet drawing before production because the OCR extraction did not fully reproduce the contact-form graphic.
Overall assessment
Conditionally usable. The pin count, numbering pattern, pitch, row spacing, body envelope, and MPN-specific assets are consistent with the datasheet. The main deficiencies are metadata and symbol-terminal semantics rather than an obvious electrical or mechanical geometry error.
Priority fixes
  1. Change all terminal Pin Type values from Unspecified to Passive.
  2. Add paired pole/contact descriptions to all 16 terminals.
  3. Add a concise part description and package/case metadata.
  4. Confirm that every pad uses a 1.0 mm plated drill before manufacturing.
  5. Visually confirm that the symbol shows eight independent SPST contacts and that ON orientation matches the footprint markings.
