Part Audit Review

Review all available part information (MPN, package, pin count, description, properties). If no datasheet URL is already set, search the web for the official datasheet and update the part's Datasheet property with the URL. Then cross-check the schematic symbol, footprint, and pin descriptions against the datasheet. Summarize key specs and flag any mismatches.
I’ll audit the part metadata, locate and attach the official datasheet if needed, then cross-check the symbol, footprint, and pin descriptions and report any mismatches.

Part Audit Report Scope
Audit of Molex 2082940040 covering project metadata, schematic symbol, terminal definitions, footprint, and the official Molex datasheet/customer drawing already attached to the part.
Evidence note: the attached URL is an official Molex PDF. Datasheet extraction returned OCR text without immutable inline citation links, so the values below are recorded as manually cross-checked against that official document rather than citation-backed claims.
Part identity and metadata Key specifications
  • 4 loaded circuits, 4 maximum, single row
  • 1.80 mm mating and termination pitch
  • Vertical, male, surface-mount PCB header
  • Maximum current: 5.0 A per contact
  • Maximum voltage: 250 V AC RMS/DC
  • Operating temperature: -40 °C to +105 °C
Audit complete. The official Molex datasheet URL was already set, so no update was needed.
Key issues found: the description incorrectly says Right Angle instead of Vertical, symbol labels render unreadably, pins lack descriptions/types, and retention-pad spacing is 8.50 mm versus 8.53 mm specified. I filed an internal part-quality report; full specifications and findings are in Part Audit Report.

Schematic symbol and terminal audit
Signal contacts 1–4
  • Four signal contacts exist and are numbered 1, 2, 3, and 4, matching the four-circuit device.
  • Generic numeric names are acceptable because the connector contacts have no fixed electrical function.
  • All four contacts have Pin Type = Unspecified and no pin description. For a connector, Passive is a better electrical type, with descriptions such as “Signal/contact circuit 1”.
Mounting tabs MP1 and MP2
  • The footprint has two retention/solder nail pads, consistent with the mechanical drawing.
  • The symbol exposes MP1 and MP2 as normal schematic terminals, but the datasheet identifies these as retention nails rather than signal contacts.
  • Recommended correction: classify them as mechanical/passive retention tabs and exclude them from normal logical connectivity, or clearly describe them as “PCB retention nail; no defined electrical function.”
Symbol rendering
  • The symbol body renders, but the pin labels appear as hollow square glyphs rather than readable 1, 2, 3, 4, MP1, and MP2 text.
  • This is a significant symbol-quality issue because users cannot reliably identify terminals visually even though the underlying pin numbers exist.

Package orientation labelFootprint geometry appears consistent with vertical headerDatasheet specifies verticalGeometry appears consistent; metadata description is wrong
The 0.03 mm retention-pad spacing difference is small, but the manufacturer-recommended land pattern should normally be reproduced exactly. Confirm whether this is a rounding artifact in the imported footprint; otherwise move the retention pads to ±4.265 mm from center.
  1. Critical metadata mismatch: description says Right Angle, while the Molex data identifies the connector as Vertical.
  2. Symbol readability defect: pin labels render as square glyphs and are not readable.
  3. Missing terminal metadata: pins lack descriptions and use Unspecified electrical type.
  4. Mechanical tabs modeled as ordinary terminals: MP1/MP2 should be clearly mechanical/retention tabs with no defined signal function.
  5. Footprint dimensional discrepancy: retention-pad spacing is 8.50 mm instead of the drawing’s 8.53 mm.
  6. Incomplete properties: package, connector gender, orientation, rows, positions, pitch, current rating, voltage rating, and operating-temperature properties are not populated even though the datasheet provides them.
Overall assessment
The part identity, signal-contact count, pitch, primary signal pad geometry, and retention-pad sizes are correct. The most important corrections are the Vertical orientation metadata, readable symbol labels, and terminal descriptions/types. The retention-pad spacing should be reconciled with the 8.53 mm manufacturer drawing before relying on the footprint for production.
