Part Datasheet Audit

Review all available part information (MPN, package, pin count, description, properties). If no datasheet URL is already set, search the web for the official datasheet and update the part's Datasheet property with the URL. Then cross-check the schematic symbol, footprint, and pin descriptions against the datasheet. Summarize key specs and flag any mismatches.
I’ll audit the part metadata, source the official datasheet if needed, update its Datasheet property, then compare the symbol, pin mapping, and footprint geometry against the manufacturer documentation.
I’m reading the part’s current metadata and exact pad/symbol definitions now; next I’ll validate them against the manufacturer drawing.
The part’s electrical pin count and footprint dimensions align with the JST drawing. I’m doing the final source and geometry read-back now, then I’ll record the audit findings.

Audit complete. The 17-pin symbol mapping and footprint geometry match the official JST documentation, and the part is usable as-is; the existing Datasheet URL was already populated, so it was not changed.
Key flags: incomplete terminal metadata, misleading Mount = Vertical instead of through-hole, drills at the upper tolerance limit, and courtyard geometry that may not support automated checking. Full results: Part Datasheet Audit.

Datasheet property
The part already has a nonblank Datasheet URL property pointing to a stored copy of the official JST FDZ document. Because the user requested an update only if no datasheet URL was set, it was left unchanged. The canonical manufacturer-hosted URL is:
Schematic symbol and terminals
  • Exactly 17 terminals exist, uniquely and continuously numbered 1 through 17.
  • Symbol pin numbering maps directly to footprint pads 1 through 17; no duplicates or omissions were found.
  • All pins are arranged on one side of a single symbol in numeric sequence. The symbol is electrically usable.
  • All terminals currently have Pin Type = Unspecified. For a connector, Passive would be more descriptive and improve ERC behavior.
  • Pin Description is absent for every terminal. Suggested generic descriptions are Contact 1 through Contact 17, because the connector does not assign signal functions.
  • Pin Group, Section, Pin Orientation, and Terminal Order metadata are blank.
  • The symbol is very tall and has no clear ZIF/connector body graphic or strong pin-1 landmark beyond numbering; this is a readability issue, not an electrical mapping error.
Footprint review
  • 17 circular plated through-hole contact pads at 2.54 mm pitch.
  • Pin 1 is at one end; pin 17 is 40.64 mm away, matching dimension A.
  • One non-plated polarization/mechanical hole is located at the pin-1 end, consistent with the JST layout drawing.
  • Contact pads are approximately 1.478 mm diameter with 0.95 mm drills.
  • Mechanical hole is 1.85 mm diameter/non-plated.
  • Through-hole contacts have copper and solder mask with no paste aperture, which is correct.
  • Pin-1 silkscreen marking is present.
  • The outline dimensions agree with the official 17-position drawing.
  • A STEP model is attached, but enclosure-critical work should include a visual alignment check.
  • Courtyard-like geometry appears to be embedded in an imported aggregate shape rather than a distinct courtyard layer, which may reduce automated courtyard checking.
Mismatches and cautions
  1. Mount metadata: Vertical describes entry/orientation, not assembly technology. The package is through-hole PCB mounted.
  2. Description terminology: JST calls this the top-entry version. “Vertical contact” and “female” are less precise/non-official terminology.
  3. Terminal metadata: all pins are Unspecified and lack descriptions/grouping/order metadata.
  4. Missing ratings/properties: current, voltage, temperature, materials, connector pitch/positions/type, and related ratings are not populated as structured properties.
  5. Drill sizing: both contact and boss drills are at the maximum permitted tolerance. They remain compliant, but nominal 0.90 mm and 1.80 mm may better center manufacturing tolerance depending on the fabricator’s finished-hole policy.
  6. Courtyard semantics: imported courtyard geometry may not participate in automated courtyard checking.
  7. Placement orientation: confirm pin 1 and the polarization-hole end against the JST mounting-surface drawing during board placement.
Verdict
The symbol-to-pad numbering and the critical footprint geometry match the official JST documentation. The part appears electrically and mechanically usable as-is, with no blocking pinout or land-pattern mismatch found. The main deficiencies are metadata completeness, symbol readability, drill tolerance centering, and courtyard-layer semantics.
