Date: 2026-07-20 Reviewed available part information for the published Flux part project silicon-yard/1-406541-5, including project metadata...
I created a project file with the full datasheet cross-check and mismatch list: Part Datasheet Cross-Check: TE Connectivity 1-406541-5. The core footprint geometry matches the TE drawing; the main issues are symbol metadata quality and the uploaded-vs-official datasheet URL.
Completed the review and documented the full findings in Part Datasheet Cross-Check: TE Connectivity 1-406541-5.
Open items:
  • Datasheet URL exists, so no conditional update was required; it points to an uploaded TE drawing copy rather than the live TE URL.
  • Symbol pins lack descriptions and use Unspecified pin type.
  • Shield terminals MH1/MH2 are potentially misleading; they appear to represent shield/shell tabs, not the NPTH mechanical holes.
Suggested next steps:
  1. Update pin descriptions and pin types.
  2. Rename MH1/MH2 to SH1/SH2 or SHELL1/SHELL2.
  3. If supported, replace the uploaded Datasheet URL with the official TE DocumentDelivery URL.

Part Datasheet Cross-Check: TE Connectivity 1-406541-5
Date: 2026-07-20
Scope
Reviewed available part information for the published Flux part project silicon-yard/1-406541-5, including project metadata, schematic symbol terminals, footprint data, and datasheet/customer drawing information.
Sources Checked
  • Current project metadata via Flux project inspection.
  • Current schematic symbol terminal properties via Flux schematic inspection.
  • Current PCB footprint/layout tree and embedded KiCad footprint asset.
  • Existing project Datasheet URL: https://storage.googleapis.com/graviton-electric-symbols/document_assets/user-uploaded/b364039c5dd5ffee38a4953a2b30fc38b7b02b809c7d0111678df07e6caa6691.pdf
  • Official TE customer drawing URL found from TE/product index: https://www.te.com/commerce/DocumentDelivery/DDEController?Action=srchrtrv&DocNm=406541&DocType=Customer%20Drawing&DocLang=English&DocFormat=pdf&PartCntxt=1-406541-5
  • Official TE product page/product data for 1-406541-5.
The current project already has a Datasheet URL set, so the conditional “if no datasheet URL is already set” update was not required. Note: the set URL is an uploaded copy of the TE customer drawing rather than the live TE DocumentDelivery URL.

Checks:
  • Signal drill diameter matches TE Ø0.89 mm.
  • Signal pitch is 1.02 mm between adjacent columns.
  • Row offset is 1.78 mm, matching the extracted drawing dimension.
  • Reading the KiCad footprint in its component-side convention, the row at y=-1.78 gives left-to-right 8, 6, 4, 2, and the row at y=0 gives left-to-right 7, 5, 3, 1, matching the TE component-side drawing convention.
  • Shield/shell drill diameter matches TE Ø1.57 mm.
  • NPTH mechanical drill diameter matches TE Ø3.25 mm.
  • NPTH mechanical hole spacing is 2.77 - (-9.93) = 12.70 mm, matching TE.
  • Pads 11 and 12 are modeled as np_thru_hole in the KiCad footprint asset, so they are mechanical holes rather than schematic/electrical pins.
Schematic Symbol Review
Current schematic symbol implementation:
  • 10 terminal components are present.
  • Pins 1–8 map to RJ45 contact numbers.
  • Two additional schematic terminals MH1 and MH2 have Pin Numbers 9 and 10.
  • All terminals have Pin Type: Unspecified.
  • No terminal has a Pin Description.
Expected symbol meaning from datasheet/footprint:

Table

TerminalExpected meaning
1–8RJ45 modular contacts 1–8
9–10Shield/shell solder tabs
11–12Mechanical non-plated holes only; should not be user electrical terminals
Mismatches / Concerns
  1. Pin descriptions missing.
All schematic terminals lack pin descriptions. Recommended descriptions: RJ45 contact 1 through RJ45 contact 8, plus Shield/shell solder tab for terminals 9 and 10.
  2. Pin types are unspecified.
Pins 1–8 should be Passive or the nearest connector signal/passive type available. Shield/shell pins 9–10 should also be Passive/shield-equivalent. Unspecified weakens ERC/search quality.
  3. Shield tabs are named MH1/MH2, which is potentially misleading.
In the footprint, pads 9 and 10 are shield/shell solder tabs. The true mechanical holes are pads 11 and 12 and are NPTH. MH1/MH2 could be misread as mechanical holes; SH1/SH2 or SHELL1/SHELL2 would be clearer.
  4. Current project Datasheet URL is not the live official TE URL.
A Datasheet URL exists, so no required update was performed under the user’s conditional request. However, the current URL points to an uploaded copy of the TE drawing. The official TE customer drawing URL is available and may be preferable for future maintenance.
  5. Part type is broad.
Connectors is correct, but a more specific classification such as modular/RJ45 Ethernet connector would improve searchability if supported by the part taxonomy.
  6. Library/index package metadata may be weak.
The library search result reported package_case_code: TO, which is not a meaningful package code for an RJ45 modular jack. Current project metadata does not show this as a project property, but if present in published package metadata it should be corrected/removed.
Verdict
The core part identity and footprint geometry appear substantially consistent with TE Connectivity 1-406541-5: MPN/manufacturer/description match, signal hole count and drill sizes match, staggered signal pin ordering matches the component-side TE drawing convention, shield tab holes match, and the two 3.25 mm mechanical holes are correctly modeled as NPTH in the embedded footprint.
The main issues are metadata/symbol-quality items rather than a confirmed mechanical footprint error: missing pin descriptions, unspecified pin types, confusing shield terminal names, and preference for the official TE live drawing URL over an uploaded PDF copy.
  1. Add pin descriptions for terminals 1–10.
  2. Change terminal pin types from Unspecified to connector-appropriate passive/signal types.
  3. Rename shield terminals MH1/MH2 to SH1/SH2 or SHELL1/SHELL2 while keeping Pin Numbers 9 and 10.
  4. Consider updating the part-level Datasheet URL to the official TE DocumentDelivery URL if the platform permits editing that project property.
  5. Correct any published package-case metadata that says TO; use a connector/modular-jack package classification instead if available.
