Choose R2 value/range based on your desired output voltage range
Add input/output connectors
Verify power ratings, capacitor voltage ratings, diode orientation, and regulator thermal dissipation
Run schematic/ERC review before moving to PCB layout

Desired input voltage range and desired adjustable output voltage range/current are needed to size R2, power dissipation, connectors, and layout copper properly.
