ESP32 Stepper Driver Level Shifter Design

The ESP32 does not get soldered flat onto the PCB. It plugs in like a removable module.
Think of this board as a carrier board / shield:
  1. Your PCB has an ESP32 socket area labeled J1.
  2. You solder two female header strips into J1 — one 15-pin female header on each side.
  3. Your 30-pin ESP32 DevKit already has male pins on its two sides.
  4. The ESP32’s male pins plug down into those two female headers.
So physically it is:

Important: the ESP32 must be oriented correctly. Match the ESP32’s VIN/5V and GND pins to the silkscreen labels on this PCB. If it is rotated 180°, power/signals may be wrong.
If your ESP32 DevKit does not already have male header pins soldered on, you need to solder male headers to the ESP32 first, then plug it into the female sockets on this board.
