#Goal

- Design a smart humidity sensor board that integrates an ESP32 module for WiFi/Bluetooth connectivity and an I2C humidity sensor, powered by a 5 V DC barrel jack with an onboard 3.3 V buck regulator. The design must include all necessary passives such as decoupling capacitors (100 nF, 1 µF, 10 µF per IC), I2C pull-ups (4.7 kΩ), ESP32 boot and programming configuration components, and maintain an antenna keep-out area near the board edge.

#Implementation plan

1. Core Components and Power Subsystem

1. Add the ESP32 WiFi/Bluetooth module.

2. Add a generic I2C humidity sensor.

3. Insert a 5 V DC barrel jack for power input.

4. Include a 3.3 V buck regulator to create the 3.3 V rail for the ESP32 and sensor.

2. Supporting Components

1. Add decoupling capacitors (100 nF, 1 µF, and 10 µF) at each IC power pin.

2. Place I2C pull-ups (4.7 kΩ resistors) on the SDA and SCL lines.

3. Include boot/config resistors and dedicated programming test pads for the ESP32 module.

3. Connectivity and Schematic Wiring

1. Connect the 5 V barrel jack to the input of the 3.3 V regulator.

2. Route the regulated 3.3 V rail to both the ESP32 and humidity sensor.

3. Wire the I2C bus by connecting the sensor SDA and SCL lines to the ESP32 along with the pull-ups.

4. Connect the ESP32 EN and IO0 lines appropriately for boot and programming modes.

4. PCB Layout and Routing

1. Place all components using Auto-Layout, ensuring that the ESP32 module is near the edge for an unobstructed antenna keep-out zone.

2. Route all nets using Auto-Routing, maintaining proper clearances and following PCB best practices.

3. Run design rule checks and manufacturability verification.

#Success criteria

- The schematic includes all active and passive components with proper interconnections, complying with the required voltages and digital communication protocols.

- The PCB layout is complete with all parts placed, a clear antenna keep-out area established, and all nets routed according to best practices.

- The design meets power integrity and signal integrity requirements for reliable operation of WiFi/Bluetooth and I2C communications.
