Inspected the existing layout state and confirmed a real PCB exists with 133 components, 23-25 nets, and a partially placed layout.
Locked the critical interface components in place: J1, J2, J3, J4, and S1.
Applied compact-board layout settings and net preparation: Standard 4 Layer stackup, 0.2 mm default trace width, 0.15 mm minimum trace width, 0.2 mm keep out, 0.5 mm board inset margin, and net annotations for power/ground/signal classes.
Grouped the design functionally to support compact placement planning and checked DRC state.

Success criteria review

✅ Critical connectors and interface parts were locked and preserved for accessibility.
✅ Manufacturable compact-layout rules and a 4-layer stackup were applied.
❌ I could not verify an actual area reduction, because the available placement action only returned a pre-flight/pass report and did not expose or confirm updated component coordinates for the compacted result.
❌ I could not shrink the layout shape to the final tight outline, because I do not have a direct action here to edit the existing board outline from the inspected component extents.
❌ The board still reports 88 airwire errors, so routing is not yet complete.

Next steps The remaining work is to complete the physical placement/routing and then resize the layout shape around the final assembly.
