Components

On macOS you don’t need to “open” the STEP to turn it into a ZIP—just compress it or rename it. Here are two quick methods:

Finder “Compress”
- In Finder, locate your MyBoard.step file.
- Right-click (or Ctrl-click) → Compress “MyBoard.step”.
- Finder will create MyBoard.step.zip in the same folder.
Terminal zip command
- Open Terminal (in Applications → Utilities).
- cd into the folder containing your STEP:

cd /path/to/your/files
```
- Run:

Bash
zip MyBoard.zip MyBoard.step
```
- You’ll end up with MyBoard.zip (containing the STEP) without ever opening it.

Either way you get a standard ZIP archive of your .step file without launching a CAD app.
