ATmega328P MPU6050 KiCad

I’m blocked from directly wiring the TP4056 BAT pin to the ATmega +5V rail because the board currently uses a 16 MHz ATmega328P, which requires 4.5–5.5 V at 16 MHz; a 3.7 V LiPo would fall below that.
Recommended safe path:
  • TP4056 charges the 1-cell LiPo.
  • Battery output feeds a 5 V boost regulator.
  • Boost output powers the existing +5V rail for the ATmega and headers.
Alternative low-power path:
  • Run the ATmega from the raw LiPo/3.3 V rail.
  • Change the clock from 16 MHz to 8 MHz or lower.
  • Verify all connected parts are 3.3 V-compatible.
Want me to add the 5 V boost stage and wire the TP4056 + battery path into the existing +5V rail?
i currently bypass vin and wire the + to 5v pins
That works only if the “+” source is already regulated 5 V.
For a single 3.7 V LiPo:
  • Do not wire battery + directly to the board’s 5V pins while keeping the 16 MHz ATmega clock.
  • A LiPo is about 4.2 V full, ~3.7 V nominal, and can fall near 3.0 V discharged.
  • The ATmega328P at 16 MHz requires 4.5–5.5 V, so raw LiPo power will be out of spec most of the discharge curve.
Safe options:
  1. Best match to your current wiring: LiPo → TP4056 charger → 5 V boost converter → board +5V pins.
  2. Lower-power option: LiPo/raw battery → board rail, but change ATmega clock to 8 MHz or lower and make the MPU/I/O voltage-compatible.
Also note: a TP4056 is a charger only, not a 5 V regulator. Its BAT pin should go to the battery/boost input, not directly to a 16 MHz +5V rail.
