ESP32 Smart City Controller

Totals
  • Estimated typical 5 V source current: approximately 0.81 A.
  • Estimated peak with micro-servo stall and Wi-Fi burst: approximately 2.58 A.
  • Recommended supply: regulated 5 V, 3 A.
  • Minimum for a characterized low-current micro-servo: regulated 5 V, 2 A.
Power-Path Sizing
  • J1 is rated well above the 3 A design target.
  • 5V_EXT and GND: design for 2 A continuous / 3 A peak.
  • PCB layout: at least 0.5 mm / 20 mil traces as requested; use wider pours/traces for J1-to-J3 servo power and return where space permits.
  • C1 470 uF provides local servo transient support; increase toward 1000 uF if bench testing shows resets or rail droop.
Open Assumption
The actual servo model is unspecified. Before manufacturing, replace the assumed 1.8 A stall current with the servo datasheet value and confirm the adapter, connector, copper, and capacitor sizing.
