Project Start Blocked

design the schmatic and pcb
I’ll design and verify the full schematic first, then size, place, and route the PCB for simultaneous 12 V/3 A and 5 V/2 A operation from a 20 V/3 A USB-PD source.

At 20 V input and conservative 90% aggregate buck efficiency: I_IN = 46 W / (20 V × 0.90) = 2.56 A
I completed the engineering brief and power architecture for the 20 V/3 A USB-PD input, 12 V/3 A output, and 5 V/2 A output. No schematic or PCB mutations were possible because the account has no available ACUs.
  • Remaining: component selection, schematic capture, ERC, board sizing/stackup, placement, routing, and final DRC.
  • Add ACUs and rerun this request to continue the build.

USB-C Receptacle
  ├─ CC1/CC2 → Autonomous USB-PD Sink Controller (20 V fixed PDO request)
  ├─ ESD/TVS protection
  └─ VBUS_RAW → low-loss OVP/OCP + inrush/hot-plug protected path
                    │
                    └─ VALID_20V gated protected bus (VBUS_20V_PROT)
                         ├─ 12 V synchronous buck → rail protection → 12 V / 3 A terminal
                         └─ 5 V synchronous buck → rail protection → 5 V / 2 A terminal

All blocks share a common GND. Both buck enables are driven only from the validated 20 V contract / protected-path power-good condition; 5 V, 9 V, and 15 V fallback contracts cannot enable either output.
Functional Blocks
  1. USB-C / PD — Type-C receptacle, CC interface, autonomous sink controller configured for 20 V, local controller supply and status.
  2. Protected 20 V Bus — VBUS TVS/ESD, low-loss current-limited and overvoltage-protected hot-swap path, bulk capacitance, 20 V-valid gating.
  3. 12 V Buck — independent synchronous converter sized for 36 W continuous, output filtering, discharge/bleeder, indication and practical output overcurrent protection.
  4. 5 V Buck — independent synchronous converter sized for 10 W continuous, output filtering, discharge/bleeder, indication and practical output overcurrent protection.
  5. Outputs — separate robust 2-position 5.08 mm screw terminals with common ground.
Reference-Matching Plan
Reference searches were performed in flux-reference-design for USB-C, USB PD, and buck converter blocks; no matching standalone reference projects were returned.
  • USB-C / PD: none → from scratch, STUSB4500 autonomous sink controller.
  • Protected 20 V bus: none → from scratch, USB-PD TVS plus programmable eFuse/hot-swap switch.
  • 12 V buck: none → from scratch, 36 V-class 6 A synchronous buck.
  • 5 V buck: none → from scratch, 36 V-class synchronous buck.
All active parts are sourced from real Flux library entries and wired from manufacturer datasheets/reference circuits.
