Project Getting Started

I reviewed the completed research handoffs and checked the live schematic and PCB. This revision is still incomplete and remains on release hold—not an approved battery-powered design.
Completed
  • Preserved the pre-change backup.
  • Recorded your CNHL 3S battery requirements and researched battery monitoring, default-off protection, auxiliary supplies and a purchased motor converter.
  • Documented integration gaps and saved the verified continuation state in the revision handoff.
What remains unresolved
  • Motor power: no battery-protection or high-current motor-power circuit was added. The proposed TRACO converter is not selected or approved: exact-model capability and low-input thermal derating remain unconfirmed. FET/shunt sizing, fuse coordination, current limits, regeneration handling, harness losses and transient/thermal validation are unfinished. The 25–30 A option remains provisional capacity—not continuous demand—and D24V150F5 remains unsuitable for unrestricted 25–30 A service.
  • Face: still disabled. U4’s head-side supply remains unsourced, and EN remains pulled low.
  • C7/C8/C13: still generic capacitors without exact qualified MPNs; effective-capacitance/ESR qualification is unfinished.
  • Integration: firmware compatibility, audio tests, exact harness drawings and mechanical fit remain incomplete. The PCB is still the unapproved 160 × 100 mm placeholder.
  • Checks: the eight ERC categories returned by my inspection passed, but this was not a complete final sign-off. DRC still reports unrouted connections. No manufacturing files were released.
What I still need from you
  • Original/restored torso and head CAD, including mounting locations and cable-clearance requirements.
  • Photos of the received battery label and balance connector; installed harness lengths and cooling conditions.
  • Where not already supplied: exact head/display and Jetson-carrier revisions, plus the target firmware repository and commit. Joint duty/torque requirements are also needed if reduced-current operation is acceptable.
You do not need to resend the motor model or battery product identity. Execution stopped because your account ran out of ACUs.

Motor-budget assessment supersession — 2026-10-22
Analysis/records batch completed; overall release remains HOLD. @power-budget~c0 now contains the authoritative quantitative motor options, source discrepancy ledger, margin/status table, conductor/contact-drop examples, total-battery formula and validation gates; earlier descriptions of it as only an open motor worksheet are superseded (other rails remain unvalidated).30A/150W is a provisional capacity envelope, not continuous demand or final hardware. D24V150F5 FAILS unrestricted25–30A service; TDK i7A12060A008V is input-dependent and UNVERIFIED for final use.15A option requires tested current-limit enforcement and accepted torque loss. No hardware/layout/manufacturing changes or physical tests; actual power stage, pack/harness/thermal/transient evidence still absent. Safety record slug is preliminary-fmea~zu.
Final disposition
PARTIAL ENGINEERING CAPTURE — not a complete Rev8 controller, not battery-ready,not fabrication approved. After U2D2 migration:72 native components,44 populated electrical nets,61 net records including17 empty historical identifiers. Exactly one custom torso PCB retained. Purchased U2D2/head/devices are system items, not extra custom boards. U2D2 Migration is the current motor-architecture/delta authority;prechange backup was saved before edits.
Independent electrical migration review found no migration-induced connectivity error. Fresh lead reads at2026-10-19T16:20–16:21 show ERC0 errors/0 warnings,206 airwire errors,MPN3 errors(C7/C8/C13),50 outside-board warnings and one inherited J1/J3 overlap. Missing footprints, invalid layers, overlapping copper, redundant traces and keepout checks passed. This is NOT clean DRC or safety approval. Existence of a footprint does not certify geometry/acoustics.

What is actually captured
  • Dedicated STM32F411RET6 with supply/reset/boot/VCAP support,SWD,local LSM6DSV16X SPI/interrupts and independent host UART. Former motor UART pins are NC;MCU is not a DXL slave.
  • Jetson USB -> purchased U2D2 -> externally documented GND/DATA-only harness;PCB J6/TP5 are passive diagnostics only. Exclusive TX/RX/OE/shunt circuit removed. Required separate protected motor supply/disconnect was absent before and remains unimplemented.
  • MAX98357A BTL output, manual default-off arm and optional torso DMM microphone capture path. Domain buffers and defined I2S idle states corrected.
  • Host UART retains source-side Ioff barriers, destination buffers and own-domain/raw-GPIO bias;U8/U9/U17/U18,R13–R22,C29/C30 remain. R23 belonged to the removed motor receiver and is deleted;R10 retention rule is unchanged.
  • Face connector and disabled isolation placeholder only. No working face link claimed.

Off-domain UART/I2S inputs could floatCorrected with U17/U18 and R13–R22; focused independent verification passed static topology. Ramp/leakage/SI tests still required
Mic SD receiver biasR10 retained whenever U13 populated; existing metadata corrected
Former TTL receive/idleMotor RX driver and R23 removed;TTL_DATA is passive J6/TP5 only. External U2D2/motor powered-off leakage and actual bus behavior remain unvalidated
Host200Hz/full-snapshot bandwidth conflictABI clarified: internal200Hz snapshots,20Hz default/50Hz maximum wire publication at1152008N1;84-byte payload and≤94-byte framed packet. Remaining misleading labels corrected
Face isolation incompleteU4 VCCB unsourced, EN low; four-wire harness lacks actual head3V3 reference. Intentionally disabled, not solved
Critical capacitor sourcingC7/C8/C13 remain without MPN after bounded attempts; exact effective capacitance/ESR evidence not established. No fictitious assignments
Battery/motor safety absentDeferred at named bench boundaries; independent review forbids battery/motor use

Future power/safety topology
Protected3S distribution with independent computer DC-jack,servo and auxiliary branches, common ground. No Jetson5V-header backfeed. Separate supervisory supply from shed-able head/audio. Motor disconnect must default off independently of Linux, include fault latch/deliberate rearm and preserve motor-side regeneration absorption after opening. Coordinate branch protection and reverse-current/overvoltage behavior. Per-cell open-wire/fault handling and early motor shedding/shutdown need pack data; critical faults override graceful shutdown. No guarantee survives battery removal without verified hold-up. Torque removal may collapse robot, so mechanical restraint is mandatory.
Four-layer and mechanical direction
Proposal:L1 components/signals/power,L2 continuous ground,L3 reviewed power/local signals,L4 signals/ground. Final copper/dielectric/current/EMI rules remain open. Keep high-current returns away from sensitive reference loops; do not switch motor ground. Historic split-board outlines and bare-WROOM geometry are not fabrication evidence. Official Waveshare CAD is FAMILY CAD, not independently verified purchased-revision geometry.
Next actions and needed inputs
  1. Owner supplies battery label/capacity/C-rating/protection/balance connector, motor load profiles and target carrier/JetPack revisions;15 XL330-M288-T are now selected. These unblock only dependent power/interface items.
  2. Supply current robot CAD and purchased devboard/screen photos/revisions; validate actual header, power, cable datums and converter fit.
  3. Qualify critical capacitors/footprints and complete face isolation; then close low-power capture review before optional visual drafting.
  4. Implement firmware and actual JetPack audio/tests; finalize numeric bench limits. Only after those gates should layout and manufacturing be considered.
U2D2 migration removed16 exclusive parts,restored/pinned all72 surviving baseline PCB poses and preserved outline/stackup. No routing/overall placement redesign or manufacturing order was made. Six affected NC wire stubs/detached residue were cleaned;17 empty net identifiers remain inert. Earlier88-part drafting estimates are historical, not a current quote. Purchased-module mounting/native library representation, actual protected power and motor-off DATA safety remain individually open.
