VO617A-3 Review

The independent sanity check agreed the footprint and electrical specs match the base DIP-4 VO617A-3; the only clarity issue is pin 2 using “C” for cathode while pin 4 also uses “C” for collector. I’m renaming pin 2 to “K” to avoid ambiguity.

Reviewed the current Flux part project for Vishay VO617A-3 against the official Vishay datasheet. Project: VO617A-3
Completed the VO617A-3 review and updates. I set the Datasheet URL to the official Vishay PDF, corrected/filled metadata, added pin descriptions, corrected the description’s VCEO value to 80 V, and verified the DIP-4 footprint matches the base through-hole VO617A-3.
Open items:
  • Pin 2 and pin 4 still both display as C; descriptions disambiguate them, but pin 2 would be clearer as K/CATHODE.
  • The footprint is valid for base through-hole VO617A-3, not SMD or wide-body suffix variants.

Datasheet package data for base through-hole DIP-4 includes 2.54 mm pitch and 7.62 mm typical row spacing. The footprint is consistent with the base VO617A-3 DIP-4 package.
Mismatches / Cautions
  1. Corrected: Datasheet URL was missing / empty.
    It is now set to the official Vishay PDF: https://www.vishay.com/docs/83430/vo617a.pdf
  2. Corrected: description previously listed 70 V collector-emitter rating.
    Datasheet absolute maximum rating for VCEO is 80 V; the description was updated to 80 V.
  3. Corrected: pin descriptions were missing.
    Pin descriptions were added for anode, cathode, emitter, and collector.
  4. Corrected: package metadata was missing.
    Package metadata now indicates through-hole 4-DIP.
  5. Remaining caution: duplicate C terminal labels.
    Pin 2 cathode and pin 4 collector both display as C. This is not an electrical pinout mismatch, but it is a readability / ambiguity risk. Descriptions now disambiguate them; ideally pin 2 should be labeled K or CATHODE if the part editor supports the rename.
  6. Ordering caution: footprint only matches the base through-hole VO617A-3.
    The same datasheet family includes SMD and wide-body variants such as X007T, X017T, X018T, and 400 mil options. Those variants require different footprints; this part should remain tied to the base through-hole VO617A-3 ordering option.
  7. Safety-layout caution: isolation voltage does not replace creepage/clearance review.
    The base DIP-4 version has lower creepage/clearance than the 400 mil options. High-voltage or safety-critical designs still need layout spacing reviewed against the final certification target.
