Datasheet Part Audit

I’m inspecting the current symbol and PCB land pattern first, including all six terminals and stored properties, before validating them against the manufacturer drawing.
The stored Datasheet URL is already the official Bourns PTL-series PDF, so no URL change is needed. The six-hole footprint pattern matches the datasheet’s nominal terminal layout; I’m documenting metadata and symbol-label issues now.

All six terminals currently have Pin Type: Unspecified and no stored pin descriptions. Recommended descriptions are: Potentiometer terminal 1, Wiper, Potentiometer terminal 3, LED anode (+), LED cathode (-), and Dummy/mechanical terminal; no electrical connection.
Footprint audit
The footprint source contains six plated through holes:
  • Left group: terminal 1 at (0, 0), L at (0, 2.5), E at (0, 5), and terminal 2 at (0, -2.5)
  • Right group: terminal 3 at (40, 0) and B at (40, 5)
  • Hole diameter: 1.1 mm
  • Pad diameter: 1.65 mm
  • Body outline: 45 × 9 mm nominal
This matches the datasheet's nominal six-hole arrangement, 40.0 mm longitudinal spacing, 2.5 mm terminal pitch, 1.1 mm holes, and 45 × 9 mm body envelope. The 1.65 mm pad diameter is library-defined rather than specified by Bourns; it provides a 0.275 mm radial annular ring around the nominal 1.1 mm drill. Fabricator capability and maximum lead tolerance should be checked before production.
Flagged mismatches and omissions
  1. Pin numbers B1, E1, and L1 do not match datasheet terminals B, E, and L. The footprint source uses B1/E1/L1 internally, but the manufacturer nomenclature is B/E/L.
  2. Symbol labels CCW and CW are not manufacturer-defined terminal names. Use terminal numbers 1 and 3, with optional directional descriptions only if the viewing convention is explicitly established.
  3. WIPER_ has an unwanted trailing underscore.
  4. All pin types are unspecified and all pin descriptions are absent.
  5. Description is incomplete: integrated red LED and key ordering-code features are omitted.
  6. Part type is overly generic (Resistors). A potentiometer/variable resistor classification would be more accurate.
  7. Tolerance, operating temperature, travel, taper, LED color, and power rating are not stored as explicit properties.
  8. No explicit package/case property or distributor identifiers are present.
  9. The footprint has no separate PCB mounting holes beyond the six terminal holes. The datasheet drawing references M2 features on the component; confirm whether enclosure/panel mounting or mechanical clearance needs to be represented in the consuming board design.
Overall assessment
The MPN, manufacturer, resistance, pin count, official datasheet URL, main body dimensions, terminal-hole geometry, and electrical connectivity are fundamentally consistent with the Bourns datasheet. The main corrections are metadata completeness and exact terminal nomenclature rather than a gross electrical or footprint geometry error.
