Part Verification Review

I’ll inspect the part metadata, look for an official datasheet if needed, update the Datasheet property, then compare symbol/footprint/pins against the sourced data.
Found the official Laird datasheet and set the project Datasheet URL. I’m now checking the two-terminal symbol and imported 0805 footprint against the datasheet specs.

Date: 2026-07-18 Reviewed the available part metadata, schematic symbol terminals, PCB footprint/model data, assets, and official datasheet ...
Completed the part review and set the official Laird datasheet URL for HZ0805E601R-10. I created the detailed findings in Part Verification Report.
Open items:
  • Main mismatch: the project/symbol/footprint naming says “FUSE,” but the part is a Laird 0805 ferrite chip bead.
  • Pin types are Unspecified; recommended Passive.
  • Footprint appears plausible for 0805, but export scale should be verified because computed layout dimensions showed a likely 1000× reporting discrepancy.
  • Metadata is incomplete: manufacturer, MPN, package, ferrite bead type, impedance/current/DCR/temp specs should be added.
Suggested next steps:
  1. Rename the part/symbol/footprint labels from fuse terminology to ferrite bead terminology.
  2. Add canonical metadata properties for HZ0805E601R-10.
  3. Update pin types/descriptions.
  4. Verify the exported footprint/Gerber scale before approving the part.

Part Verification Report

Scope
Reviewed the available part metadata, schematic symbol terminals, PCB footprint/model data, assets, and official datasheet information for the current part project.
Datasheet Update
The project did not have a datasheet URL available for self-querying at the start of review. I found and set the official Laird datasheet URL:
Note: the project properties tool accepted Datasheet URL but warned that it is a non-standard project property name. The datasheet query tool was then able to use the URL for self, so it is functionally available for this part review.
Identified Part
The searchable/manufacturer part number is HZ0805E601R-10. The part is a Laird / Laird Signal Integrity Products high-impedance ferrite chip bead, not a fuse.

Current Project / Metadata Observations
Available project context shows:
  • Project name: FUSE
  • Project description: FUSE
  • Pads: 2
  • Schematic terminals: designators 1 and 2
  • Terminal properties present: Pin Number, Part Type: Terminal, Pin Type: Unspecified, Designator Prefix: P, Symbol Pin Position
  • BOM: no parts added / no BOM item returned
  • Assets returned by the assets tool:
    • FUSE Symbol.svg, default symbol, label FUSE
    • MFBA2V2012-221-R, STP file, not marked as 3D model
  • Layout model rule references FUSE_HZ0805E601R-10_LRD.step
  • Layout footprint rule references HZ0805E601R-10.kicad_mod
Metadata fields that appear missing or not exposed in the inspected component data:
  • Manufacturer Part Number property
  • Manufacturer Name property
  • Part Type / category as Ferrite Bead
  • Package / Case Code as 0805 / 2012 metric
  • Impedance, current rating, DCR, and operating temperature properties
  • Pin descriptions
  • Passive pin types
Schematic Symbol Cross-Check
The schematic is electrically acceptable for the device topology:
  • The part has two terminals in the schematic.
  • Pin numbers are 1 and 2.
  • A ferrite bead is a non-polarized two-terminal passive component, so no polarity marker is required.
Mismatches / improvements:
  1. Pin Type is Unspecified on both terminals. Recommended library-quality setting is Passive.
  2. Pin descriptions are missing. Recommended descriptions:
    • Pin 1: Terminal 1
    • Pin 2: Terminal 2
  3. Designator semantics are misleading. The symbol asset and project are labeled FUSE; for a ferrite bead, a typical prefix is FB or sometimes L, not F/fuse.
  4. Part identity is misleading. The part should be described as a ferrite bead / EMI suppression bead, not a fuse.
Footprint Cross-Check
The imported KiCad footprint payload contains:
  • Pad 1: SMD rectangle at x = -0.8763 mm, y = 0
  • Pad 2: SMD rectangle at x = +0.8763 mm, y = 0
  • Pad size: 1.1176 mm x 1.4478 mm
  • Pad center spacing: 1.7526 mm
  • Inner pad gap: about 0.6350 mm
  • Overall pad span: about 2.8702 mm
  • Fab outline body: approximately 2.159 mm x 1.448 mm
  • Courtyard: approximately 3.378 mm x 1.956 mm
This is plausible for a standard 0805 / 2012 two-terminal ferrite bead with nominal body size 2.00 mm x 1.25 mm. The footprint has the correct two SMT pads and correct non-polarized topology.
Footprint flags:
  1. The datasheet/product-page extraction did not expose a manufacturer-specific recommended land pattern, so the footprint was validated against standard 0805 geometry and body size, not an exact Laird land-pattern table.
  2. The layout tree computed rules reported pad sizes as 0.0011176 mm x 0.0014478 mm and pad positions at ±0.0008763 mm, while the KiCad payload clearly states 1.1176 mm x 1.4478 mm and ±0.8763 mm. This looks like a Flux unit display/scale reporting issue, but exported manufacturing data should be checked before approval.
  3. Footprint/value text FUSE_HZ0805E601R-10_LRD is misleading because the part is not a fuse.
  4. Some imported fab/courtyard/text groups appear inactive in the layout tree. Pads are the critical manufacturing geometry; however, active fab/courtyard metadata should be reviewed for part-library polish.
3D / Asset Cross-Check
The asset list includes an STP asset named MFBA2V2012-221-R, which is a different ferrite bead part number than HZ0805E601R-10. The layout model rule references FUSE_HZ0805E601R-10_LRD.step, so there is an asset/model naming inconsistency to review.
Flag: verify the active 3D model corresponds mechanically to HZ0805E601R-10 / 0805 body dimensions and remove or relabel unrelated model assets if they are not intentional.
Mismatch Summary
High priority:
  • Project/symbol/footprint naming says FUSE, but the datasheet identifies HZ0805E601R-10 as a ferrite chip bead, not a fuse.
  • Default designator/prefix semantics appear fuse-like; recommended prefix is FB or possibly L.
  • Manufacturer/MPN/part type/package/spec properties appear incomplete or not exposed in inspected metadata.
  • Pin types are Unspecified; recommended Passive.
Medium priority:
  • Pin descriptions are missing.
  • Footprint naming/value string contains FUSE.
  • Datasheet land pattern was not available in extracted official content; footprint is plausible standard 0805 but should be checked against the original PDF/approved land pattern if strict library release is required.
  • Layout computed-rule dimensions show a 1000x apparent scale discrepancy versus the KiCad payload; verify Gerber/export output.
Low priority:
  • Asset naming/model list includes a different part number (MFBA2V2012-221-R) and should be cleaned up if unused.
  • Fab/courtyard/text active states should be reviewed for library completeness.
  1. Rename the project/part/symbol from fuse terminology to ferrite bead terminology.
  2. Set canonical properties: Manufacturer Name, Manufacturer Part Number, Part Type, Package, Datasheet URL, impedance, rated current, DCR, and operating temperature.
  3. Change terminal Pin Type from Unspecified to Passive.
  4. Add terminal descriptions: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
  5. Rename footprint/value/model labels to remove FUSE and use HZ0805E601R-10 or FB_HZ0805E601R-10.
  6. Verify footprint scale in exported manufacturing files before release.
  7. Verify or replace the 3D model asset so it clearly matches HZ0805E601R-10 / 0805 dimensions.
