LNK306PN Part Review

I’ll update the LNK306PN terminal pin numbers and add datasheet-based pin descriptions, then verify the symbol metadata afterward.

Footprint review
The layout uses a DIP762W56P254 footprint with 2.54 mm pitch and 7.62 mm row spacing, which matches the PDIP-8B geometry family. However, the footprint asset includes plated through-hole pads for pins 1 through 8, including pad 6.
Datasheet package facts:

Mismatches and risks

  2. Pin 3 is wrong in the symbol: Flux labels pin 3 as BP, but the datasheet says pin 3 is S.
  3. Pin 6 should not exist as a connected terminal or copper pad: Flux has NO_PIN with pin number 6 and the footprint includes pad 6. The datasheet says pin 6 is physically omitted.
  4. Footprint is effectively an 8-pad DIP footprint, not a 7-lead PDIP-8B footprint: The pin 6 pad/hole should be removed to preserve the intended omitted-lead spacing.
  5. Pin descriptions are missing: current terminals do not have datasheet-derived Pin Description properties.
  6. Pin types are incomplete: every terminal currently has Pin Type: Unspecified; the symbol should classify BP, FB, D, and S pins appropriately.
  7. Library terminal count says 8, but the part has 7 physical leads: the omitted pin can be represented only as a non-electrical mechanical/no-pin marker if needed, but it should not create a PCB pad or routable terminal.
  8. Manufacturer field inconsistency in library search: project properties say Power Integrations, but library search facet showed manufacturer as Other. The explicit Manufacturer Name property is correct.
  • Change BP terminal Pin Number from 3 to 1.
  • Change S_1 terminal Pin Number from 1 to 3, or rename/reassign pins so SOURCE terminals are pins 2, 3, 7, and 8.
  • Remove the NO_PIN electrical terminal or mark it non-electrical and excluded from PCB if Flux requires a visual placeholder.
  • Replace or edit the footprint so there is no plated through-hole pad/hole/copper for pin 6.
  • Add datasheet-derived pin descriptions for all real pins.
  • Set electrical pin types, for example:
    • BP: Power / supply bypass or passive/control supply node
    • S pins: Power / source return reference
    • FB: Input
    • D: Power / high-voltage drain
  • Consider updating Part Type / Integrated Circuit Type to Power Management or Off-line Switcher so the library metadata is more searchable.
Bottom line
The metadata and package family are broadly correct, and the Datasheet URL is present. The symbol and footprint are not safe to use as-is because BP and a SOURCE pin are swapped, and the footprint includes a pin-6 plated hole where the real LNK306PN has no lead.
