GRF2133 Part Audit

I’ll audit the part metadata, locate the official GRF2133 datasheet if needed, update its Datasheet property, then verify the symbol, footprint, and pin descriptions against the manufacturer documentation.
The part already has a Datasheet URL, so I’m leaving it unchanged as requested. I found the newer official Guerrilla RF datasheet and am completing the symbol/footprint comparison now.

Review of available part metadata, schematic terminals, PCB footprint, pin descriptions, and datasheet alignment. Existing Datasheet URL: ht...
Audit complete. The pin numbering and basic DFN-6 exposed-pad footprint structure appear correct, but metadata is outdated/incomplete: the description states 0.1–2.7 GHz rather than the current official 0.1–4.2 GHz range, pin descriptions/types are missing, and pins 2/5 should indicate GND/NC.
The Datasheet URL was already populated, so I left it unchanged; it points to an older mirror rather than the current official Guerrilla RF PDF. Full specifications, footprint dimensions, and mismatch details are in the GRF2133 Part Audit.

GRF2133 Part Audit
Scope
Review of available part metadata, schematic terminals, PCB footprint, pin descriptions, and datasheet alignment.
Datasheet sources
The Datasheet URL property was already populated, so it was not changed. The existing link resolves to an older 2018 datasheet describing a 0.1–2.7 GHz tuning range and 60 mA reference bias. The current manufacturer PDF/product page describes operation/tuning through 4.2 GHz and uses 70 mA in portions of the revised datasheet, while the product page still includes some 60 mA reference points.

Datasheet pinOfficial name/functionCurrent terminalResult
1VENABLE — enable voltage input; series resistor sets IDDQ; <0.2 V disables; internal pull-downV_ENABLE, pin 1Electrically correct; name formatting differs; description and pin type are missing
2GND/NC — no die connection; manufacturer recommends groundingNC_1, pin 2Number correct, but name omits recommended GND option; description and pin type are missing
3RF_IN — RF input; external DC block requiredRF_IN, pin 3Correct name/number; description, DC-block note, and pin type are missing
4RF_OUT/VDD — RF output and VDD feed; external DC block requiredRF_OUT/VDD, pin 4Correct name/number; description, supply/DC-block note, and pin type are missing
5GND/NC — no die connection; manufacturer recommends groundingNC_2, pin 5Number correct, but name omits recommended GND option; description and pin type are missing
6VDD1 — bias supply; normally tied to VDD through resistor or inductorVDD1, pin 6Correct name/number; description and pin type are missing
Package baseGND — DC/RF ground and thermal sink; multiple 8 mil vias recommendedGND, internal pin 7Function is correct. Using pad 7 is a normal CAD convention, though the datasheet calls it PKG BASE rather than pin 7; description and thermal-via guidance are missing
All seven current terminals have Pin Type: Unspecified; none has a populated human-readable pin description.
Symbol assessment
  • Pin numbering and functional assignment are correct.
  • The symbol includes all six perimeter pins and the exposed package-base ground.
  • Pin 2 and pin 5 are labeled only as NC, while the current official datasheet labels them GND/NC and recommends grounding them with nearby vias.
  • Important application notes are absent from pin descriptions: RF input/output DC blocking, enable behavior, bias connection, and exposed-pad thermal/RF grounding.
  • Electrical pin types are unspecified, reducing ERC usefulness.
Footprint assessment
Current footprint asset: SON50P150X150X50-7N.kicad_mod.
Observed geometry from the footprint source:
  • Body/fabrication outline: 1.5 × 1.5 mm
  • Six perimeter SMD pads on 0.50 mm pitch
  • Perimeter pads: 0.25 × 0.60 mm
  • Pad center X offsets: ±0.85 mm
  • Row Y offsets: -0.50, 0, +0.50 mm
  • Exposed pad 7: 0.65 × 1.15 mm
  • Pin-1 marker and chamfer are present
  • 3D STEP model is attached
Cross-check result:
  • Package family, body size, six perimeter pads, 0.50 mm pitch, and exposed ground pad agree with the official DFN-6 1.5 × 1.5 mm package identification.
  • Footprint pad-number mapping in the source follows the normal counter-clockwise top-view arrangement and aligns with the datasheet pin sequence.
  • Exact pad dimensions and solder-mask/paste geometry could not be conclusively validated because the official PDF's mechanical drawing callout values were not exposed in searchable text. The footprint is plausible, but exact land-pattern verification remains open pending manual inspection of the drawing or the manufacturer package-outline/manufacturing note.
  • The exposed pad uses one solid paste aperture. Confirm against the official suggested PCB footprint/manufacturing note; small thermal pads are often acceptable as a single aperture, but the manufacturer drawing is the authority.
Key current official specifications
  • Function: broadband ultra-high-gain low-noise amplifier / linear gain block
  • Process: GaAs pHEMT
  • Frequency/tuning range: 0.1–4.2 GHz current official datasheet/product page
  • Supply operation: 1.8–5.0 V described on product page; 6.0 V absolute maximum
  • Selectable quiescent current: 35–120 mA
  • Package: 1.5 × 1.5 mm DFN-6 plus exposed ground pad
  • 700 MHz reference: 40.0 dB gain, 20 dBm OP1dB, 31 dBm OIP3, 0.70 dB NF
  • 1950 MHz reference: 28.0 dB gain, 20 dBm OP1dB, 31 dBm OIP3, 0.60 dB NF
  • 2500 MHz reference: 23.5 dB gain, 20 dBm OP1dB, 30 dBm OIP3, 0.75 dB NF
  • RF ports: single-ended 50 Ω with the specified external matching/tuning network
  • Maximum RF input power: 23 dBm under stated load/supply conditions
  • Maximum dissipated power: 700 mW

High priority
  1. Populate Pin Description for all seven terminals from the official pin table.
  2. Set meaningful Pin Types instead of Unspecified, especially RF input, RF output/power, enable input, power/bias, and grounds.
  3. Update pins 2 and 5 naming/description to communicate GND/NC and the manufacturer's recommendation to ground them.
  4. Replace the old mirror URL with the official Guerrilla RF PDF when maintaining the part, even though the current request only required filling a missing URL.
Medium priority
  1. Update the description from 0.1–2.7 GHz / 39.5 dB max to the current official 0.1–4.2 GHz positioning and 40 dB reference gain, while noting performance depends on tuning and frequency.
  2. Populate Part Type and Package or Case Code metadata.
  3. Correct the library manufacturer categorization from Other to Guerrilla RF.
  4. Manually verify the exact footprint dimensions against the current official mechanical drawing or Guerrilla RF manufacturing note MN-001.
Overall disposition
The electrical pin numbering and basic DFN-6 exposed-pad footprint structure appear correct. The main deficiencies are stale/incomplete metadata, an older non-official datasheet link, absent pin descriptions, all pins marked Unspecified, incomplete GND/NC naming for pins 2 and 5, and an unclosed exact-land-pattern verification item.
