Part Review and Datasheet Update

I’ll update the flagged GPIO/power/USB pin descriptions, clean up the project description, then run ERC/DRC and report remaining issues.
Pin descriptions and the project description are updated. I’m running the electrical and layout checks now.
Updated the flagged pin descriptions for GPIO35/GPIO36/GPIO37, GPIO38, USB D+/D−, and power pins, and replaced the noisy part description with a concise Espressif/N16R8V-specific description.
Open items:
  • ERC/DRC returned no matching errors, warnings, or informational checks; the review system reports a fresh review timestamp but no check entries for this part-only project.
Suggested next steps:
  1. Optionally rename 5V0 to 5V for exact Espressif header naming.
  2. Add richer alternate-function descriptions to every GPIO terminal if you want a fully annotated symbol.
  3. Re-run part review checks after publishing or before library reuse.

Key official specs
  • Board: ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1 v1.1 entry-level development board.
  • Wireless: Wi-Fi + Bluetooth Low Energy through ESP32-S3 module.
  • Variant note: N16R8V corresponds to ESP32-S3-WROOM-2 family with 16 MB Octal SPI flash and 8 MB Octal SPI PSRAM; SPI memory voltage is 1.8 V for V-suffix variants.
  • Power options: USB port(s), 5 V pin, or 3V3 pin; Espressif states these supply options are mutually exclusive.
  • USB: USB-to-UART bridge and native ESP32-S3 full-speed USB OTG; native USB supports flashing, USB communication, and JTAG debugging.
  • RGB LED: v1.1 uses GPIO38 for addressable RGB LED; older initial versions used GPIO48.
  • Important N16R8V/WROOM-2 restriction: GPIO35, GPIO36, and GPIO37 are used internally for SPI flash/PSRAM communication and are not available for external use.

Footprint check
  • Flux footprint contains 44 pad nodes, matching the official two 22-pin header layout.
  • The footprint includes pad nodes for all header terminals plus fab/silk/text shapes.
  • The available layout inspection did not expose numeric pad pitch, pad dimensions, or board outline dimensions, so only pad count/topology was confirmed. Official DevKitC-1 header layout is two 22-pin rows, typically 2.54 mm header pitch.
Pin type / description issues
  • Most GPIO terminals are marked Bi-Directional; this is generally acceptable for GPIO-capable header pins.
  • Power pins are marked Power In. For a development board module used as a component, 3V3 may act as an output when the board is powered from USB/5V or as an input when externally powering 3V3. A more accurate description should mention dual role and mutual exclusivity of supply methods.
  • RST is marked Input; correct.
  • Pin descriptions are largely absent beyond the terminal designator names. Official alternate functions (ADC, touch, UART, JTAG, USB, RGB LED, flash/PSRAM restrictions) are not captured in the Pin Description property.
  1. Add or update Pin Description for GPIO35, GPIO36, and GPIO37: on ESP32-S3-DEVKITC-1-N16R8V / WROOM-2 these are used internally for Octal SPI flash/PSRAM and are not available for external use.
  2. Add RGB LED note to GPIO38 pin description, because v1.1 uses GPIO38 for the addressable RGB LED.
  3. Enrich USB_D+/GPIO20 and USB_D-/GPIO19 descriptions with native USB D+/D- functions.
  4. Clarify 3V3 and 5V0 power pin descriptions with Espressif’s mutually exclusive power-source guidance.
  5. Consider changing visible terminal 5V0 to 5V if strict naming alignment with Espressif documentation is desired.
  6. Consider improving the high-level description; current description text appears noisy and does not clearly state this is an Espressif ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1-N16R8V development board.

ESP32-S3-DEVKITC-1-N16R8V is an Espressif ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1 v1.1 development board based on the ESP32-S3-WROOM-2-N16R8V module. It provides dual-core ESP32-S3 processing, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, 16 MB Octal SPI flash, 8 MB Octal SPI PSRAM, USB programming/debugging, native USB OTG/JTAG capability, onboard power regulation, and two 22-pin 2.54 mm header rows for prototyping. Note: on this WROOM-2/N16R8V variant, GPIO35, GPIO36, and GPIO37 are used internally for Octal SPI flash/PSRAM and are not available for external use; GPIO38 drives the onboard RGB LED on v1.1 boards.
