Part Review Audit

I’ll audit the part metadata, source the official TE Connectivity documentation if needed, update the Datasheet property, then verify the symbol, footprint, and pin descriptions against it. I’ll record the detailed findings in a project review file and summarize any critical mismatches here.
The initial inspection found 27 symbol terminals (25 contacts plus two boardlocks) and exposed a likely footprint scale error: the stored 2.77 mm pitch and 1.755 mm pad dimensions appear approximately 1000× too small in the computed layout. I’m now validating this against TE’s official drawing and checking the uploaded datasheet’s identity.

Reviewed project properties, manufacturer identity, product description, symbol terminals, footprint source geometry, computed footprint geo...
Audit complete. The critical issue is that the computed footprint is 1000× too small; other mismatches include 27 terminals for a 25-position connector, incorrect TO package metadata, ambiguous mount metadata, and missing pin descriptions/types. The Datasheet URL was already populated, so it was not changed; I filed an internal part-quality report.

Designator PrefixJCorrect for connector
Datasheet URLPresent, user-uploaded PDFPresent; not an official TE URL, but no replacement was required because the property was already populated
Part TypeConnectorsLikely noncanonical; expected singular Connector
Package or Case CodeTOIncorrect; TO is a transistor outline and does not describe this right-angle D-sub connector
MountStandardIncorrect/ambiguous; should identify through-hole / board mount
DescriptionProduct-feature text, truncatedIdentity is broadly correct but the description is incomplete and less useful than a concise product description
Connector-specific propertiesMostly absentMissing structured gender, type, pitch, positions, rows, temperature, and current metadata
Symbol audit
  • The symbol contains contacts 1–25 and two additional terminals MH1 and MH2, for 27 terminals total.
  • TE specifies 25 signal/contact positions. The two boardlocks are mechanical retention features, not numbered connector positions.
  • Contacts 1–25 have matching numeric names and numbers, and the two-row ordering corresponds to the footprint source.
  • Every terminal has Pin Type: Unspecified; all Pin Description, section, and pin-group fields are blank.
  • Recommended: contacts 1–25 should be passive connector pins with a description such as D-sub contact position N. Boardlocks should normally be footprint-only mechanical features, or explicitly excluded/non-electrical terminals if the platform requires terminal mapping.
Footprint audit
Source footprint geometry
The embedded KiCad source is dimensionally coherent with the TE drawing:
  • 2.770 mm contact pitch.
  • 2.84 mm row spacing with the second row staggered by 1.385 mm.
  • Boardlock centers are 47.04 mm apart.
  • Boardlock drills are 3.18 mm.
  • Contact drill is 1.17 mm. This is within TE's Ø1.09 ±0.08 mm range, but exactly at the maximum limit and therefore provides no drawing-tolerance margin.
  • Contact pad diameter is 1.755 mm, giving about 0.293 mm nominal annular ring around a 1.17 mm drill.
  • Pin 1 is rectangular and positioned at the upper-row right end, consistent with the TE recommended PCB-layout orientation.
Critical computed-geometry mismatch
Flux read-back computes all imported footprint dimensions at 1/1000 of the source values:
  • 2.770 mm source pitch becomes 0.00277 mm.
  • 1.755 mm source pad diameter becomes 0.001755 mm.
  • 47.04 mm boardlock spacing becomes 0.04704 mm.
  • Silkscreen, fabrication, courtyard, and text geometry are also scaled down by 1000×.
This is a critical manufacturability failure: the current published footprint cannot be used as rendered/computed. An internal part-quality report was filed.
Mismatches and severity
  1. Critical — footprint geometry is computed 1000× too small. The part is unusable for PCB manufacturing until the asset/unit conversion is corrected.
  2. High — terminal count is 27 while the connector has 25 electrical positions. MH1 and MH2 are mechanical boardlocks exposed as schematic terminals.
  3. Medium — package metadata says TO. This is the wrong package family.
  4. Medium — mount metadata says Standard. Official mounting is right-angle board-mount through-hole solder.
  5. Medium — all pin descriptions and electrical types are missing/unspecified. This reduces symbol clarity and ERC quality.
  6. Low/medium — contact drill is 1.17 mm, the maximum allowed by the TE hole tolerance. It is technically inside the stated range but should be checked against fabrication drill tolerance and finished-hole requirements.
  7. Low — Datasheet URL is not an official TE URL. It was already populated, so it was left unchanged per the request.
  8. Low — description and structured connector properties are incomplete. Core identity is still recognizable.
  • Re-import or repair the footprint with correct mm scaling and verify computed dimensions after import.
  • Keep only contacts 1–25 as electrical symbol terminals; make boardlocks footprint-only mechanical holes/pads, or mark them excluded/non-electrical if terminal mapping is required.
  • Change package metadata from TO to a descriptive D-sub/right-angle through-hole package value.
  • Change mount metadata to through-hole / board mount and populate connector properties: receptacle, 25 positions, 2 rows, 2.77 mm pitch.
  • Set contact pins to passive and add concise pin descriptions.
  • Consider using the official TE customer-drawing URL as the Datasheet URL for provenance.
  • Recheck the finished contact-hole diameter against the PCB fabricator's plating and drill tolerances before release.

25-Position Right-Angle D-Sub Receptacle Connector – Right-angle PCB-mount D-Sub receptacle designed for industrial control systems, communication equipment, instrumentation, embedded computing, test equipment, and data interface applications. Part of the TE Connectivity AMPLIMITE HD-20 Series, it features 25 female signal contacts in a 2-row DB-25 layout with 2.77 mm (0.109") contact pitch. Supports through-hole solder termination, board-lock retention, and 4-40 female screwlocks for secure mating and vibration resistance. Rated for 3 A per contact, it uses gold-plated copper alloy contacts, a nickel-plated steel shell, and a glass-filled PBT housing (UL94 V-0) for excellent durability and signal reliability. Designed for board-mount applications, it operates over a −55°C to +105°C temperature range and is housed in a right-angle through-hole configuration for space-efficient PCB layouts.
