I’ll audit the part metadata, source the official datasheet if needed, compare the symbol and footprint against it, update the Datasheet property, and report any mismatches.
The part already has a Keystone datasheet URL. I found the footprint uses two 6.35 × 7.34 mm SMT pads on 62.21 mm centers plus one 1.98 mm NPTH; I’m now validating these and the terminal mapping against the official drawing.
Audit complete. The official datasheet was already set, so it was not replaced; I found critical mismatches including reversed footprint polarity, incorrect “Integrated Circuits” classification, missing pin descriptions, and a possible 1000× footprint scaling anomaly.
Full findings: Keystone 1024TR Part Audit. I also filed an internal part-quality report; the part should not be used for manufacturing until corrected.
The project represents the Keystone Electronics 1024TR, a single-cell AA surface-mount battery holder supplied on tape and reel. The official manufacturer drawing is already linked, so no missing datasheet URL had to be added.
Pass; manufacturer name could be made more explicit

Key manufacturer specifications
Holds one AA cell (ANSI 15A / IEC LR6 family).
Surface-mount holder; 1024TR is the tape-and-reel ordering variant.
Base: heat-resistant nylon, UL 94 V-0 per product information.
Contacts: 0.30 mm thick stainless steel, gold flash over nickel.
Overall body: approximately 69.15 mm long × 15.54 mm wide × 14.86 mm high.
Recommended terminal land size: 6.35 mm × 7.34 mm minimum, two places.
Positive-side locator hole: 1.98 mm diameter, associated with a 1.27 mm locator leg.
General drawing tolerance: ±0.25 mm, angular ±1°.
Tape-and-reel packaging: 200 pieces per 13-inch reel.
The official drawing does not state a specific current or voltage rating.
Schematic symbol cross-check
The symbol has two terminals labeled + and -, which is appropriate for a polarized battery holder. However:
Both pins have Pin Type = Unspecified rather than Passive/Power-type semantics.
Neither pin has a human-readable Pin Description.
The electrical numbering is shown as pin 1 for + and pin 2 for -, but the footprint orientation does not agree with that assignment (see below).
The symbol uses generic terminal primitives and has no battery-holder body graphic. This is electrically usable but weak for identification.
Recommended pin descriptions:
Pin 1: Positive AA battery contact (+)
Pin 2: Negative AA battery contact (-)
Footprint cross-check
The embedded KiCad footprint source contains:
Pad 1 at (0, +31.105 mm), size 6.35 × 7.34 mm.
Pad 2 at (0, -31.105 mm), size 6.35 × 7.34 mm.
Locator hole MH1 at (6.73, -27.435 mm), diameter 1.98 mm.
Fabrication outline approximately 59.93 × 15.24 mm.
Courtyard approximately 71.55 × 17.62 mm.
Confirmed footprint mismatch: polarity mapping
The official drawing places the locator feature at the positive end. In the footprint source, the locator hole is adjacent to pad 2, while the schematic defines pin 2 as -. Therefore the footprint currently maps the datasheet's positive end to the schematic negative terminal. This is a critical polarity mismatch that could reverse the battery connections on the assembled PCB.
Potential footprint mismatch: terminal spacing
The footprint pad centers are 62.21 mm apart, giving an outer land span of 68.56 mm. The official mounting-pad drawing calls out 69.55 mm minimum across the terminal-land layout. If that dimension is interpreted across the outside edges of the two lands, the existing footprint is approximately 0.99 mm short. This should be resolved directly from the drawing geometry before release.
Flux geometry/import anomaly
The structured PCB nodes report the pad coordinates and sizes at 1/1000 of the values embedded in the KiCad footprint (for example, 0.00635 mm instead of 6.35 mm). The embedded footprint text itself contains plausible millimeter dimensions. This suggests a unit-scaling/import anomaly in the computed footprint representation and should be visually and dimensionally checked in the editor before use.
Recommended disposition
Do not use this part for manufacturing as-is. Correct the part classification and designator metadata, add pin descriptions/types, fix the pad-to-polarity mapping, verify the official terminal spacing, and resolve the apparent 1000× footprint scaling anomaly. After corrections, compare the 3D model, pad centers, locator hole, body outline, and courtyard against the official Keystone drawing.
Surface-Mount AA Battery Holder – Single-cell AA battery holder for portable electronics, wireless sensors, handheld devices, IoT products, backup power circuits, and embedded systems. Designed for surface-mount (SMT) PCB installation, it accommodates one AA cylindrical battery (1.5 V alkaline or 1.2 V NiMH) using SMD solder tabs for secure mechanical retention and reliable electrical contact. Features an open-frame construction, low-profile design with a 14.86 mm height above the PCB, and is manufactured from high-temperature plastic with nickel-plated spring steel contacts for durability and long service life. Rated for operation over a −50°C to +145°C temperature range, making it suitable for demanding industrial and commercial environments.
