What the XL1509-3.3 datasheet calls for
  • Switching frequency: 150 kHz (typ).
  • Typical 3.3 V application: L1 47 µH/2 A.
  • Table entry (fixed 3.3 V) shows: L1 = 47 µH.
Recommended inductors (47 µH primary, with ≥3 A Isat headroom)
  • Best headroom, shielded
    • YSPI1365-470M — 47 µH; Isat 7.0 A; Irms 5.0 A; DCR max 80 mΩ; SMD 13.8×12.6×6.5 mm. Plenty of margin for 2 A load and good copper loss.
  • Compact, widely used shielded drum core
    • CDRH127NP-470MC — 47 µH; DCR 0.10 Ω max (76 mΩ typ); Isat 3.6 A (4.5 A typ); Irms 3.2 A. Meets the current and saturation needs with moderate DCR.
Alternative (only if you must increase L)
  • YSPI1050-680M — 68 µH; Isat 4.0 A; Irms 3.0 A; DCR typ 240 mΩ (max 300 mΩ); 10×10 mm. Higher DCR; use only if your input conditions push you to a higher L. Verify loop stability if deviating from 47 µH.
Selection notes for your 2 A design
  • Per best practices, operate at no more than 90% of Isat and no more than 60% of Imax (thermal/Irms). The 47 µH parts above clear this easily.
  • The XL1509-3.3’s own examples specify 47 µH for 3.3 V; it’s the right starting point unless a special VIN/ripple target requires otherwise.
  • Favor shielded inductors with low DCR to reduce copper loss and EMI.
