#Goal

Design a consumer-grade low-power environmental sensor node with temperature and humidity sensing, featuring Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth (BLE 5.x) connectivity. The node will be powered via a USB-C input (5 V) and must include power protection (reverse polarity, OVP, UVLO, and OCP) while accommodating 0.5–3 A sources, using an ultra-low-power MCU and a digital T/RH sensor.

#Implementation plan

Capture and Define Requirements
1. Update project metadata and description in the project to capture all requirements: USB-C 5 V power input, low-power operation, digital temperature/humidity sensor, dual-radio MCU (Wi-Fi + BLE), and comprehensive power protection.
2. Document environmental constraints for consumer use, including low-power operation and protection for variable USB currents (0.5–3 A).
Select and Add Key Components
1. Select and add a USB-C connector with necessary CC resistors to the project.
2. Add and configure power protection components that provide reverse polarity, OVP, UVLO, and OCP. Ensure they support up to 3 A input current.
3. Add a 3.3 V regulator and required decoupling/bulk capacitance to support low-drop operation from the 5 V supply.
4. Select and add an ultra-low-power MCU with integrated dual-radio Wi-Fi and BLE (e.g., an ESP32 variant or equivalent) from the Flux components library.
5. Select and add a digital temperature/humidity sensor (e.g., SHT3x, SHTC3, or equivalent) to the project.
Schematic Design and Integration
1. Draw the schematic with the USB-C power chain supplying 5 V through protective circuitry before feeding the 3.3 V regulator.
2. Connect protection elements (reverse, OVP, UVLO, OCP) inline with the USB-C input and upstream of regulation.
3. Connect the digital T/RH sensor to the MCU using I²C, adding necessary pull-up resistors and decoupling capacitors.
4. Ensure all power and signal connections meet the design requirements and functional blocks.
PCB Layout Considerations
1. Configure PCB stackup and layout with attention to RF zones: ensure proper keep-out areas for the Wi-Fi/BLE antenna.
2. Position the USB-C connector at the board edge while maintaining ESD and spacing requirements.
3. Size power traces and copper pours appropriately to handle currents from 0.5–3 A.
4. Define layout constraints for sensor thermal isolation and adequate air exposure for environmental sensing.
Final Review and Documentation
1. Run schematic and layout ERC/DRC to identify and fix potential component, footprint, or power rating issues.
2. Document component roles, part selections (with MPNs if available), and update project metadata to summarize design objectives.
3. Prepare manufacturing and assembly notes along with firmware starter documentation.

#Success criteria

A complete schematic is created featuring USB-C power input with protection, a 3.3 V regulator, a dual-radio ultra-low-power MCU, and a digital temperature/humidity sensor.
PCB layout is configured with proper RF keep-out areas, optimized for USB-C placement and power trace sizing sufficient for 0.5–3 A currents.
Design passes ERC/DRC checks and documentation captures project requirements for consumer-grade deployment.
