Here’s how to wire a 4‑pin, independent bi‑color indicator so red and green are controlled separately. Use one series Resistor per color. Do not share a resistor between dies.
Drive pin LOW to turn on, HIGH (or Hi‑Z) to turn off.
Notes
Use one resistor per color on your Bi-color LED 0805. Choose R independently for red vs green to balance brightness.
When powering an LED directly from an MCU GPIO, ensure the LED current is kept between 4 and 20 mA and always check the datasheet. Also check the MCU’s per‑pin and per‑port limits.
Keep the LED supply at or below the MCU I/O voltage. If VLED > VIO (e.g., 5 V LED supply with 3.3 V MCU), do not connect directly to the GPIO; use a transistor driver or level shifting.
For dimming and matching, use PWM on each color channel. Turning both channels on mixes to an intermediate color.
If you share your LED supply voltage and your target currents, I can compute the exact resistor values next.
Wirelessly connects nets on schematic. Used to organize schematics and separate functional blocks. To wirelessly connect net portals, give them same designator. #portal
