Project: Universal Configurable 10-Battery Controller – Concept Model
Date: 2026-07-13
Purpose Statement
This project demonstrates the physical organization and control architecture of a configurable ten-battery controller.
It is a concept and presentation model, not a manufacturing-ready or operational BMS.
High-current battery switching, protection ratings and charging algorithms require professional engineering verification before any physical implementation.
Scope Confirmed
- Existing schematic was preserved; no schematic rebuild was performed.
- The concept net
BATTERY_POWER_MATRIX_CONCEPT_ONLY was preserved.
- The PCB remains a 160 mm x 120 mm presentation board with rounded rectangular outline.
- Four corner mounting holes were added.
- Section silkscreen labels, polarity labels, warning notes, and concept-only markings were added.
Placement Summary
The PCB was reorganized into clear presentation zones:
- Top edge: CELL 1 through CELL 5 connector row.
- Bottom edge: CELL 6 through CELL 10 connector row.
- MOSFET switching placeholders near the cell-connector rows.
- Main controller area around the ESP32-S3 module.
- USB-C programming/system-upload section near the lower/front region.
- Battery-monitoring multiplexers in the center.
- User interface section with OLED, rotary encoder, buttons, and visible status LEDs.
- Charging concept section at the left side.
- Controlled output section at the right side.
- Control-power/support components grouped around the controller and charger blocks.
Routing Summary
The routing pass focused only on verified low-voltage/control portions and intentionally avoided forcing the conceptual battery-power matrix into a production route.
Routed/attempted groups included:
- I2C SDA/SCL display/control wiring.
- Monitoring multiplexer select lines.
- Battery voltage/temperature monitor return signals.
- Selected boot/reset/UI control paths where the router could complete clean paths.
The USB differential section and several LED/control chains were left partially unrouted where the local router could not produce clean paths without causing overlap warnings.
Remaining Check Results
Final check state still includes open items, expected for this concept presentation model:
- Airwires remain, including intentional concept-only matrix and unforced low-voltage items.
- A small ESP32-S3 module GND/mount overlap warning remains in the module footprint area.
- No component-overlap or out-of-board placement problem was reported in the final focused check.
- Accidental trace-overlap segments introduced during routing were removed.

Not Manufacturing Ready
This PCB must not be connected to real batteries. Before physical implementation, the following require professional redesign and verification:
- Real battery series/parallel high-current switching matrix.
- Cell balancing and protection strategy.
- Fusing, isolation, and creepage/clearance requirements.
- MOSFET SOA, thermal design, gate drive, and failure-mode analysis.
- Charger algorithm and chemistry-specific safety controls.
- Firmware safety interlocks and fault handling.
- Production DRC, ERC, test points, manufacturing outputs, and compliance review.
