LED Blinker Circuit Design

0:00

Schematic is complete (9V -> switch -> NE555 -> blinking red LED)

Added through-hole, hand-solderable parts

FunctionPart
9V inputB1
On/off controlS1
Timer IC (astable)IC1
Timing resistorsR1, R2
Timing capacitorC1
Decoupling capacitorC2
LED + current limitLED1, R3
Key wiring (NE555 astable)
  • Power path: B1 (+) -> S1 -> IC1 VCC
  • Astable node:
    • R1 from VCC -> DISCH
    • R2 from DISCH -> THR/TRIG node
    • C1 from THR/TRIG node -> GND
    • IC1 THRES and TRIG tied together to the timing node
  • Output LED: IC1 OUT -> R3 -> LED1 -> GND
  • Decoupling: C2 across VCC-GND (and also used to tie CTRL to GND)
Timing values (about 1 Hz blink)
This yields approximately ~1 Hz oscillation (about 1 second per cycle).
Checks
  • ERC/DRC: no single-pin nets or undriven nets reported.
  • SPICE verification: attempted, but the simulator tool errored due to context limits, so I could not numerically confirm period/duty via simulation in-tool.
If you want, I can proceed with the optional PCB layout constraints/placement guidance next (still through-hole, clearly labeled polarity for B1, C1, and LED1).
