Controls: number of knobs, buttons, sliders, rotary encoders, jog wheels, LEDs, OLED/display, etc.
Interface: USB MIDI, BLE MIDI, Wi-Fi control, or standalone audio processing.
Power: USB-only or battery-powered.
Form factor: approximate deck size and whether it should be hand-solderable.
A good starting architecture would be: ESP32-S3 dev board + USB-C power/data + 8 knobs + 8 buttons + 2 rotary encoders + small OLED + optional RGB LEDs, acting as a USB/BLE MIDI controller.
