Started implementing a plan
#Goal
- Convert the existing U1 channel PCB layout into a reusable module and instantiate it three additional times (for U2, U3, and U4) without altering the U1 layout. The module should maintain its orientation (no mirroring or rotation) and pass DRC, with proper net connections as per the provided channel mappings.
#Implementation plan
1. Freeze and define the module for U1 channel
1. Mark U1 and its associated parts (R1, R2, R6, C1, C7, C11, D1, D5) and local routing as the golden reference.
2. Define the module boundary to include U1 and its local components and routing.
3. Set up module terminals corresponding to VS, GND, IN, INH, SR, and OUT.
2. Map module connections
1. Confirm that each module terminal is properly connected to the designated nets (e.g., U1: OUT=Net 3 on J1:1, INH=Net 13 on J1:16, etc.)
3. Instantiate three additional modules
1. Duplicate the U1 module to create instances for U2, U3, and U4.
2. Place each new module by translation-only into the designated U2, U3, and U4 areas, ensuring no orientation change.
3. Reconnect each module's interface to the correct nets as per the provided mappings for U2 (e.g., OUT=Net 7), U3, and U4.
4. Validate design
1. Run DRC and airwire checks to confirm that all modules, including the new instances, pass design rule checks without modifications to the U1 channel layout.
#Success criteria
- U1 channel remains unchanged and serves as a reusable module template.
- The U2, U3, and U4 channels are added as module instances with identical orientation and proper net connections.
- All module instances pass DRC with no errors or warnings related to routing or placement.
