Part Metadata Audit Summary

Review all available part information (MPN, package, pin count, description, properties). If no datasheet URL is already set, search the web for the official datasheet and update the part's Datasheet property with the URL. Then cross-check the schematic symbol, footprint, and pin descriptions against the datasheet. Summarize key specs and flag any mismatches.
I’ll audit the nRF52840 part metadata, locate/set the official datasheet if missing, then compare the symbol pins and footprint/pad information against the Nordic datasheet and report mismatches.
Audit complete. The Datasheet URL was already set to Nordic’s official product specification, so no update was needed.
I created the detailed report here: nRF52840-QFAA-F-R7 Part Audit.
Key finding: the footprint has the expected 49 pads for a 48-QFN + exposed pad package, but the current symbol/terminal pin numbering is largely mismatched against the nRF52840-QFAA datasheet pin map; only the VSS/exposed ground pads appear aligned. All terminals also have Pin Type = Unspecified and are missing pin descriptions.

Symbol / terminal cross-check
The current symbol/terminal numbering does not match the nRF52840-QFAA pinout. Only the exposed ground pads appear aligned by function:

Footprint cross-check
  • The footprint file name QFN40P600X600X95-49N-D.kicad_mod is consistent with a 0.40 mm pitch, 6.0 mm x 6.0 mm, 49-node QFN-style package.
  • Layout contains 49 pad nodes, which is consistent with 48 perimeter pins plus exposed pad.
  • However, footprint pad designators/names mirror the incorrect symbol terminals, so the footprint-to-symbol mapping is not reliable for nRF52840-QFAA-F-R7 until the terminal names/pin numbers are corrected.
Pin description/property issues
  • All terminals currently have Pin Type = Unspecified.
  • No terminal-level Pin Description properties were found.
  • Several current symbol terminals do not exist on QFAA at all or are not named as QFAA datasheet pins: P1.08, P1.09/TRACEDATA3, P1.00/TRACEDATA0, P1.15, DEC3, VSS_PA, SWDIO, SWDCLK, NC, and VDD_1...VDD_5 naming should be normalized to datasheet VDD, VDDH, VBUS, etc.
  1. Rebuild or renumber the symbol terminals to exactly match the QFAA pin map above.
  2. Rename/update footprint pads to match the same pin-number-to-name mapping.
  3. Add terminal Pin Type values:
    • VDD, VDDH, VBUS: Power In
    • VSS / exposed pad: Ground
    • DEC1, DEC2, DEC4, DEC6, DCC, DCCH, VDD_PA: Power/Passive support pins as appropriate
    • P0.x GPIO pins: Bi-Directional or Digital
    • D+, D-: Signal/USB
    • ANT: Signal/RF
    • XC1/XC2: Passive/Signal crystal pins
  4. Add short Pin Description values for every terminal.
  5. Re-run part review after edits.
