Hardware Product Planning

I have an idea for a hardware product and I need help planning and designing it.
Help me think through:
  • What the key functional blocks of the design should be
  • What components and subsystems I'll need
  • How to break the project into manageable steps
  • What to prototype first
Start by asking me about my product idea and what it needs to do.
Absolutely. Start by describing the product idea in plain language:
  1. What problem does it solve, and who is it for?
  2. What should the device physically do or sense?
  3. Does it need to connect to anything — phone app, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB, cloud, another device?
  4. How will it be powered — battery, USB, wall adapter, solar, vehicle power, or something else?
  5. Any size, cost, durability, or appearance constraints?
  6. Where will it be used — indoors, outdoors, wearable, handheld, mounted, industrial, classroom, etc.?
  7. What are the most important features for the first prototype?
  8. Are there any parts, sensors, displays, motors, LEDs, buttons, or connectors you already know you want to use?
Once you answer, I’ll help turn it into a block-level architecture, candidate components, prototype plan, and development roadmap.
