VBUS_5V stub with a real 5 V source into U2.Started implementing a plan
#Goal
- Integrate current sensing into the dual H-bridge coil channels of the IronGuard IG50 design to enable real-time verification of coil drive during system bring-up and manufacturing validation.
#Implementation plan
1. Define and document current sensing requirements for each H-bridge coil channel:
1. Specify measurement accuracy, expected current ranges, and voltage drop targets across the sensing element.
2. Decide on the sensing methodology (e.g., sense resistor with differential ADC measurement).
2. Update the coil-driver architecture to include dedicated current sensing components:
1. Select and add current-sense resistors or sensors into each H-bridge channel.
2. Integrate additional circuit elements (e.g., amplifiers or filters) if necessary to condition the sensed current signal.
3. Enhance MCU connectivity and test-point accessibility:
1. Route the current sensing nodes to MCU ADC inputs or expose them via dedicated test points.
2. Validate that both sensed current values and coil drive commands can be compared for drive verification.
4. Revise the schematic:
1. Incorporate the current sensing elements into the dual H-bridge circuit.
2. Revalidate net connections and resolve any ERC/DRC issues from the added elements.
5. Update the PCB layout:
1. Reassess component placement and routing to integrate current sensing circuitry within the existing 50 mm circular, 4-layer board layout.
2. Ensure that new test points and signal paths are accessible for manufacturing validation and bring-up.
#Success criteria
- Both H-bridge coil channels include current sensing circuitry, with test points or MCU connectivity for real-time measurement.
- The schematic is updated, and all ERC/DRC issues are resolved.
- PCB layout is reviewed and adjusted to accommodate the additional components without compromising the 50 mm circular design.
- Verification capability for both coil drive current and commanded-versus-actual drive is confirmed during bring-up and manufacturing validation.
