It will be the main component for the timer circuit. Make sure the flat side of the chip is facing up so pin 1 is at the top-left position, with pin numbers counting in a U shape.
Connect pin 8 (Vcc) to your power supply, and pin 1(GND) to ground. Also, connect pin 4 (RESET) to Vcc since it is an active-low pin and we want it inactive.
Connect two resistors (R1 and R2) in series between pin 7 (DISCHARGE) and Vcc. Assume a value of 4.7kΩ for both R1 and R2. Then, connect a capacitor (C1) from pin 6 (THRESHOLD) and pin 2 (TRIGGER) to ground. Let's say it's 10µF.
Connect pin 6 to pin 2, and pin 2 to the junction between R2 and C1.
Finally, connect pin 3 (OUTPUT) to your output device, which could be a LED preceded by a current-limiting resistor.
