Designing an electromyography circuit would require several components. Let's start with a basic outline of the design.
At a high level, an electromyography (EMG) circuit generally involves the following components:
Electrodes: These are for capturing the electrical signal from the muscles. This is usually done with surface electrodes that are attached to the skin above the muscles we are interested in.
Amplifier: The raw signal from the electrodes will be very small, so it needs to be amplified. This is usually done with an instrumentation amplifier specifically designed for bioelectric events like INA118, AD620, etc.
Filter: After amplification, the signal will need to be filtered to remove the noise. Usually, a band-pass filter is used to keep the frequencies of interest (for EMG, typically in the range of 20-500Hz). This can be done using active filter circuits designed with operational amplifiers.
ADC: Finally, the filtered analog EMG signal needs to be converted to a digital signal if you want to use it with a digital device like a microcontroller or PC. This will be done by ADC.
MCUs or Microprocessors: For control and signal processing purposes. MCU can be from popular development boards such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.
Before we can create a detailed schematic and a PCB layout, we will need to make a few decisions regarding the specific components, performance characteristics, and design constraints. Can you provide more details about your project such as specific components you would want to use or any specific requirement that needs to be met?
