USB-C Connector Recommendations

Added 3 green 0603 LEDs with 1 kΩ current-limiting resistors: LED1 = power, LED2 = TX activity, LED3 = RX activity.
Open items:
  • TX/RX LEDs are wired as active-low indicators, so they blink when the UART line is pulled low.
  • PCB placement/layout is still not done.
Suggested next steps:
  1. Place LEDs near the board edge for visibility.
  2. Place USB-C, ESD, and CP2102N for short USB routing.
  3. Route the PCB and run DRC.
Replace the UART connector with a standard 2.54mm connector Pinout VCC GND RX TX
I’ll replace the current UART header with a 4-pin 2.54 mm header and rewire it as VCC, GND, RX, TX.
I’m blocked because the account has no available ACUs, so I can’t continue executing project edits.
What I did this session:
  • Acknowledged the requested UART connector replacement.
  • Created a task plan for replacing the current UART connector with a 4-pin 2.54 mm header.
Still to do:
  • Inspect the existing UART connector wiring.
  • Replace the current connector with a standard 1x4 2.54 mm connector.
  • Wire the new pinout as VCC, GND, RX, TX.
  • Run schematic checks to verify the replacement.
