Below is an explanation of Auto-Layout, as provided in the official Flux documentation:
  • Purpose:
Auto-Layout is an AI-powered feature in Flux designed to automate PCB routing. It is especially useful for simple to medium-complexity designs, significantly reducing manual routing time.
  • How It Works:
    • Initiation:
Ensure your schematic and component placements are finalized before starting. Then click the Auto-Layout (or auto-route) button in the PCB layout view.
    • Iteration Process:
The tool automatically generates layout iterations. While it runs, you can review each iteration using the provided scrubber. If you find an iteration that meets your requirements, you can apply that layout to your project.
    • Convergence and Finalization:
Auto-Layout continues until the layout stabilizes (i.e. converges) or until further iterations do not yield any meaningful changes, at which point you can accept the best layout.
  • Tips for Using Auto-Layout:
    • Finalize component placement and board constraints before starting.
    • Review iterations carefully, as Auto-Layout might not always fully converge.
    • Once satisfied with an iteration, apply it to lock in the layout.
    • Be aware that using Auto-Layout consumes Copilot credits based on the board’s complexity.
